216 219 217 218 220 Other Properties 216 A GROUP OF ANCIENT AND ETHNOGRAPHIC FLINT IMPLEMENTS Including sixteen British and French implements, Paleolithic to Neolithic Period, including a white stone oval axe from Cissbury Rings, 19.5cm long, three tools labelled ‘Cromer foreshore’, an implement inscribed ‘Abbeville’, 16cm long, and other examples, some inscribed with find-spot; two Ethiopian stone axes inscribed ‘Melke Simbule’; a Native American grooved axe, with label ‘Ohio River Banks’, 11cm long; thirty-two arrowheads from Labrador in a collector’s case, collected by W.T. Grenfell, June 1902, 18mm-60mm long; a Japanese polished axehead fragment inscribed ‘Hokkaido Japan’, 7cm long; a schist polished axehead, marked ‘R.8091 1936’, 12cm long; seven flints in envelopes from the Guildford Museum, 2.8cm-3.2cm long (a lot) Provenance: English private collection.
