It joined for the first time as launch<br />
partner at Materials Handling Saudi<br />
Arabia.<br />
Swisslog Middle East introduced their<br />
latest warehouse automation solutions<br />
and new picking technologies for<br />
forward-thinking customers in Saudi<br />
Arabia and the bordering region.<br />

Largest rice factory in the Gulf now open at KIZAD<br />
ABU DHABI: The largest and only fullyautomated<br />
rice factory of its kind in the<br />
Gulf Region capable of producing<br />
120,000 metric tons of rice per annum<br />
was formally opened at the Khalifa<br />
Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD).<br />
Owned by Al Dahra Kohinoor, a<br />
subsidiary of Al Dahra Holding, the<br />
factory spans across a total area of<br />
100,106 square meters at KIZAD and<br />
will be handling the full production<br />
cycle of rice that includes milling,<br />
storage, packaging as well as<br />
distribution within the UAE and<br />
exporting to foreign markets via the<br />
adjacent Khalifa Port.<br />
The Dh140-million facility, opened on<br />
Dec. 6, will produce up to 120,000<br />
metric tons of rice per annum<br />
with 40 silos; each boasting a<br />
750-ton capacity.<br />
It also features storage<br />
facilities with a capacity of<br />
8,000 tons, a processing<br />
u n i t , i n a d d i t i o n t o<br />
administrative offices and<br />
support facilities. The<br />
company aims to create a<br />
strategic rice reserve in Abu<br />
Dhabi of about 30,000<br />
metric tons.<br />

Ports, described the project<br />
a s “ a m o n u m e n t a l<br />
a c h i e v e m e n t t h a t<br />
significantly contributes to<br />
the long-term vision of the Abu Dhabi<br />
Government to achieve food supply<br />
security and sustainability.”<br />
The factory will benefit from a vertically<br />
integrated supply chain that guarantees<br />
the sourcing of the finest quality<br />
Basmati and non-Basmati rice from<br />
India and Pakistan, officials said.
