To get the engine to move along the ground, if your engine has a Forward and Reverse Lever you should push it either to the front or back. If you have an early engine with no Forward and Reverse Lever (forward motion only) but instead a twist arm steam regulator, you should turn that to release steam from the boiler to the cylinder. Now, disconnect the drive band, flick the flywheel round and it should run at 1700 rpm or more as seen on our digital tachometer.
