THEATRE LAB’S SPELLBINDING
SALOME AT HOXTON HALL
Theatre Lab’s acclaimed production of
SALOME, now in its fifth production
after a successful European tour, will
play at the beautifully restored Hoxton
Hall which has been an East End
landmark since 1863, from Tuesday
31 January until Saturday 11 February.

Current production:
Oscar Wilde’s 'Salome'. A spellbinding
visual portrayal of a once forbidden play
set in the exotic and decadent 1930s
where King Herod celebrates his birthday
with a sumptuous banquet. Lust, envy,
death, obsession, a red moon, perfumed
powder, an erotic dance, roses and a
farewell kiss with the beheaded Iokanaan
fuel the atmosphere of desire in this
avant-garde story.

people from different cultures and

TLC’s success. The world needs to value
its most important assets: humanity, our
planet, connection and sharing, not
capitalism and segregation.
An unforgettable experience:
Our production of ‘Velvet Scratch’ in
Prague. A man who had watched the
show three times taking photographs of
the squeezed strawberries on the empty
stage after the show has finished, as he
whispers that his eyes would not see the
world in the same way again.
The Artistic Director:
Anastasia Revi loves London and has
been living and working in this unique
city for the last 21 years. She loves it
because as John Berger said, ‘London is
a teenager, an urchin, and in this hasn’t
changed since the time of Dickens’.
Anastasia recently directed ‘Macbeth’ at
the National Theatre of Northern Greece
and won the 2016 Award for Best
Director of the year. She is nominated
for Greece’s Woman of the Year Award in
the Directors category in March 2017.
Cast and creative team:
Elegant Spanish actress, Denise
Moreno, who plays the title role is a rising
star in the film industry after a successful
modelling career; charismatic Danish
actress, Helen Bang, is the muse of writer
Edward Bond; passionate Greek actor
Kostantinos Kavakiotis, who recently
played the title role in ‘Macbeth’ at the
National Theatre of Northern Greece;
Shakespeare fanatic, Tobias Deacon, with
unique English charm, wit and
intelligence, also Artistic Director of
Scaffold Shakespeare Company and male
lead in most Theatre Lab productions;
fabulous, multi-talented actress Annabelle
Brown, Co-Artistic Director of Scaffold
Shakespeare Company, lead in West End
production ‘The Mousetrap’, and is also
Musical Director of ‘Salome’; exotic
British actor of Jamaican origin, Matthew
Wade, plays the part of the prophet; and
finally French, bohemian actor/performer,
Benoît Gouttenoire, brings the air of
‘l’enfant terrible’. The creative team
consists of Italian designer Valentina
Sanna whose high aesthetics carry the
1930s era with a twist; Greek
photographer and award nominated
lighting designer, Yiannis Katsaris, who
creates this other galaxy through his
lights; and finally producer Martina
Reynolds who is the heart of Theatre Lab
Company.

laughter, sharing stories, smart and
sharp dialogues, sweat, high standards
and a drink or more at the pub after.
