Berrington Parish Council Berrington Parish Council consists of nine elected or co-opted Parish Councillors: Claire Wild (Chair); Richard Purslow (Vice-Chair); Richard Ward; Sue Mason; Lezley Picton; Claire Bonsey; Mark Howarth, Eric Brayne and Steve Hawksworth. The Parish Council meets at 7.30pm on the 1st Thursday of every month (except August and sometimes December) at the Chapel Community Centre. News from your Shropshire Councillor - Councillor Claire Wild YOUTH CLUB PROVISION I have been asked by many residents about the possibility of restarting a youth club in Cross Houses. Shropshire Council has allocated £3,000 towards youth provision for the divisions of Tern and Severn Valley. At the Local Joint Committee (LJC) meeting which will be taking place on Thursday 23rd of February, 7pm at the Chapel Community Centre the allocation of the funding will be discussed. Shropshire Council will be working with Shropshire Youth Association to deliver the service as long as they can secure volunteers to help. If you are willing to sign up as a volunteer please come along to the LJC meeting. Please be aware that any volunteers that come forward will have to undergo a DBS check which will be undertaken, free of charge, by the Shropshire Youth Association. It would be fantastic if those of you who are willing to volunteer could email either mathew.mead@shropshire.gov.uk or david.fairclough@shropshire.gov.uk before the meeting so that it will help Cross Houses/Atcham present its case for funding at the meeting. The youth activities, when organised, will be for children across the Severn Valley division and local children from any of the out lying villages will be most welcome. THEFTS FROM SHEDS AND OUTBUILDINGS There has been a significant increase in the number of thefts from sheds and outbuildings. It appears that in many of these break ins, specific items such as bikes, tools, garden equipment etc of a particular make and model, are being sought Please ensure that your outbuildings are secure and if you should witness any suspicious vehicles or activity in the area please get in touch with Crime Stoppers. FLY TIPPING AND DOG FOULING Sadly these issues still affect our villages on a daily basis. There has been an increase in fly tipping and also of industrial waste being dumped. Please be on the look out for any instances of fly tipping and report it to Shropshire Council. Do not approach the fly tippers directly but if you have a vehicle registration number please tell the Council. Despite previous pleas there are still people who are not picking up after their dogs. If your children walk the dog please ensure that they know to pick up any waste and place it in any of the bins around the villages.
