SAFETY FIRST<br />
When operating this electric appliance, basic safety instructions should always<br />
be followed. Refer to the following for these instructions<br />
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS APPLIANCE.<br />
2. Keep children away from the machine when in use.<br />
3. Never operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug or one that has<br />
malfunctioned or been damaged in any way. If necessary, immediately<br />
contact Customer Service for assistance.<br />
4. The kettle should not be used with an external timer or a separate remote<br />
control system.<br />
5. Operate the appliance on a level surface well away from any hot gas or<br />
electrical burner, heat source, combustible spray cans or pressurized items.<br />
6. To avoid injury or death from electrical shock, do not operate the machine<br />
with wet hands, while standing on a wet surface or while standing in water.<br />
Also, do not use the machine outdoors or in wet conditions.<br />
7. Do not immerse the machine directly in water to clean.<br />
8. Do not fill the water to higher than the maximum water level.<br />
9. When filling the kettle, make sure it is not plugged in to an electrical outlet.<br />
10. Make sure the lid is closed before boiling water. Do not open the lid until the<br />
boiling is finished.<br />
11. Make sure the power to the kettle is turned off before removing the base.<br />
12. When not in use, unplug the kettle.<br />
13. Only use the base that accompanied the kettle.<br />
14. This machine is for household use only. Any other use will void the warranty.<br />

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME<br />
1. Remove all packaging, stickers or accessories from both the inside and<br />
outside of the kettle.<br />
2. Adjust the length of the cord by winding it under the base. Wedge the cord<br />
into the notch.<br />

• Before cleaning the kettle, make sure it is unplugged.<br />
• Let it cool down and clean it with a damp sponge.<br />
• Never immerse the kettle, its base, the cord or the electric plug in water: the<br />
electrical connections or the switch must not come into contact with water.<br />
• Do not use scouring pads.<br />
To remove the anti-scale filter, lift the kettle off its base and allow to cool. Never<br />
remove the filter when the appliance is full of hot water.<br />
DESCALING<br />
To keep the kettle working well, you should descale regularly, preferably at least<br />
once a month or more frequently if your water is very hard.<br />
There are three different ways you can descale your kettle:<br />
Using white vinegar:<br />
1. Fill the kettle with 2 cups of vinegar.<br />
2. Let the vinegar soak in the kettle for 1 hour. Do not turn on the kettle during<br />
this time.<br />
3. Pour out the liquid and rinse 5 or 6 times.<br />
Using citric acid:<br />
1. Boil 2 cups of water in the kettle.<br />
2. Add 5 teaspoons of citric acid and let it soak for 15 minutes.<br />
3. Pour out the liquid and rinse 5 or 6 times.<br />
Using a descaler:<br />
1. Use a descaler specifically for plastic kettles and follow the manufacturer’s<br />
instructions.<br />
2. Empty your kettle and rinse 5 or 6 times. Repeat if necessary.<br />
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE<br />
USE<br />
1. Open the lid of the kettle, add water and close the lid.<br />
Note: You must add at least enough water to go above the Min level but less<br />
than the Max level.<br />
2. Plug the base into the electrical outlet and place the filled kettle onto the<br />
base.<br />
3. Press the switch down. The kettle begins the boiling process and will<br />
automatically switch off when the water is finished boiling.<br />

TROUBLE SHOOTING<br />
Problem: The kettle does not work or stops before coming to the boil.<br />
Possible Causes:<br />
• Check that your kettle is properly connected.<br />
• The kettle has been switched on without water.<br />
• An accumulation of scale has caused the overheat cut-out to operate:<br />
Solutions:<br />
• Allow the kettle to cool for at least 15 minutes and fill it with water.<br />
• Descale first if scale has accumulated.<br />
• Switch the kettle on. ·<br />
Problem: The water tastes of plastic.<br />
Possible Cause:<br />
Generally, this happens when the kettle is new.<br />
Solutions:<br />
• Boil and discard water four or five times before using the water to drink.<br />
• If the problem persists, fill the kettle to maximum and add two teaspoons of<br />
baking soda. Bring to a boil and descale the water. Rinse the kettle thoroughly.<br />
Problem: The kettle has been dropped, it leaks, or there is damage to the<br />
power cord, plug, or base of the kettle.<br />
Solutions:<br />
• Do not use the kettle. No attempt must be made to dismantle the kettle or<br />
its safety devices.<br />
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its<br />
after-sales service center or a similarly qualified person, in order to avoid any<br />
danger.<br />
• Return your kettle to your local After-Sales Service Center; only they are<br />
authorized to carry out repairs. See the guarantee conditions and list of<br />
centers in the booklet supplied with your kettle. The type and serial number<br />
are shown on the bottom of your kettle. This guarantee covers manufacturing<br />
defects and domestic use only. Any breakage or damage resulting from failure<br />
to comply with the instructions for use is not covered by the guarantee.<br />

WARRANTY & SERVICE<br />
This Limited Warranty is for one full year from the date of purchase. It is<br />
applicable to the original purchaser only and is not transferable to a third<br />
party user. Repair or replacement of defective parts is solely at the seller’s<br />
discretion. In the event that repair isn’t possible, the seller will replace the<br />
product/part. If product repair/replacement won’t suffice, the seller has the<br />
option of refunding the cash value of the product or component returned.<br />
Product defects not covered under the Warranty provisions include normal<br />
wear and damage incurred from use or accidental negligence, misuse of<br />
instruction specifications or repair by unauthorized parties. The manufacturing<br />
company is not liable for any incidental or consequential damages incurred by<br />
