The findings <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> annual survey on <strong>the</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Internet<br />
<strong>of</strong> Things <strong>Industry</strong> identifies key trends, challenges, and<br />
opportunities based on <strong>the</strong> experiences and perceptions <strong>of</strong><br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essionals representing companies from across <strong>the</strong> <strong>IoT</strong><br />
ecosystem.<br />
This report will explore <strong>the</strong> operational and financial<br />
obstacles that need to be overcome so <strong>IoT</strong> can deliver on<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>ten-l<strong>of</strong>ty expectations. Discover <strong>the</strong> most popular<br />
uses cases and vertical market applications and see what<br />
companies are perceived as leading <strong>the</strong> way in <strong>the</strong> growth<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>IoT</strong>. The study explores a variety <strong>of</strong> topics – ranging from<br />

This year’s report demonstrates <strong>the</strong> nearly boundless<br />

Who’s Working in <strong>IoT</strong>?<br />
The high level finding <strong>of</strong> this year’s annual survey is that<br />
<strong>the</strong> Internet <strong>of</strong> Things (<strong>IoT</strong>) continues to ga<strong>the</strong>r impressive<br />
momentum. Demonstrating global businesses’ realization<br />
and understanding <strong>of</strong> <strong>IoT</strong>’s value, <strong>IoT</strong> has moved well<br />
beyond <strong>the</strong>ory and project conceptualization to<br />
working deployments with more on <strong>the</strong> way.<br />
A majority <strong>of</strong> businesses are actively engaged in using<br />
or planning to deploy <strong>IoT</strong> solutions within <strong>the</strong> next<br />
twelve months. In fact, 51% have already deployed one<br />
or more solutions, with ano<strong>the</strong>r 17% working on <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
first projects. Indeed, just a handful (12%) do not have<br />
<strong>IoT</strong> in <strong>the</strong>ir plans for <strong>2017</strong>.<br />
In short, <strong>IoT</strong> has been unlike many technologies that<br />
have fallen short <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir early hype. The benefits <strong>of</strong> <strong>IoT</strong><br />
to enable organizations to be more efficient and effective<br />
is evident based on <strong>the</strong> percentage <strong>of</strong> organizations<br />
committed to including <strong>IoT</strong> solutions as foundational to<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir operations and overall business transformations.<br />
