Editorial Policy<br />

Sanaa: Journal of <strong>African</strong> <strong>Arts</strong>, <strong>Media</strong> and <strong>Cultures</strong> (Sanaa Journal) is a bi-annual, peer reviewed journal aimed<br />

at providing a forum for intellectuals, artists, media experts and creative people within and outside Africa to debate<br />

and publish scholarly works in relation to <strong>African</strong>’s arts, media and cultures.<br />

Aim<br />

Scope<br />

i. To publish issues related to Africa’s arts, media and cultures which are not often covered from a scholarly<br />

perspective.<br />

ii. To link contemporary arts, media and cultures to the historical past.<br />

iii. To build and rejuvenate research interest in Africa’s arts, media and cultures.<br />

The journal seeks original research-based content from academics and practitioners related to Africa’s arts, media<br />

and cultures. The journal publishes articles that display intellectual rigour and scholarly excellence in creative<br />

industries and innovations. Papers are invited from cultural heritage, innovations, intangible heritage, creative<br />

industries, theatre, film, radio, television, music, dance, sculpture, drawings, graphics, painting, internet, digital<br />

media and other direct related fields. The works embraced by the journal include pageantry, community festivals,<br />

studio recordings, exhibitions, radio and TV shows, fashion, galas and celebrations. It also focuses on the review<br />

of related laws and policies. Inter-disciplinarity and multi-disciplinarity are key to this journal. On the whole, papers<br />

from the fields of humanities, social sciences, law, business, education, engineering, health sciences and on issues<br />

related to the scope of the journal are invited.<br />

Important dates:<br />

Deadlines for the submission of manuscripts are 31 st July and 31 st January of each year. Publication is<br />

scheduled for April and October of each year.<br />

Submission of Manuscripts<br />

Authors are expected to read and comply with the information to authors. The manuscript should be prepared<br />

according to the APA referencing style and specifications of the Sanaa Journal’s Policy. All manuscripts shall be<br />

subjected to a plagiarism checker. Only those manuscripts passing the plagiarism test will be processed for peerreview.<br />

Manuscripts can be articles, memories and reviews.<br />

Peer review<br />

As a reviewer, your decision will inform editors’ decisions on the suitability of the manuscript for publication. All<br />

manuscripts are subjected to a double blind peer-review process. As a reviewer, you are expected to provide your<br />

recommendations with the following suggestions:<br />

i. Accepted as it is.<br />

ii. Accepted but requires minor corrections.<br />

iii. Re-submit after major revisions.<br />
