History informs us that man has been stimulated by
his creative ideas about everything that pertains to
life. You, as self-reliant members of this graduating
class, have given evidence of those sterling qualities
that exemplify the best characters and work traits. In
our unique school there is constant need for new ideas,
for continual development and for realistic craftsmanship.
As individuals you have tried to understand what
you are doing, you have endeavored to think through
classroom situations and you have hopes of making
contributions to keep the theater dramatic and exciting.
This apprenticeship period should fortify you
with knowledge and skill that will endure with you
through life. Remember that the usefulness of an individual
depends often on the honest recognition of
individual effort, interest and ability. In the long run,
you will be judged by what you do for yourself and
not by what others do for you.
Your cooperative attitude, your deep interest and
your earnest determination have prepared you to compete
successfully in a changing world that predicts
fantastic changes for the future in all fields. My brief
counseling periods with you as individuals have acquainted
me with your plans, your professional attitude,
your level of scholarship and your feeling about
the arts. Along with your hopeful and understanding
teachers, I shall treasure the happy thoughts I have
gained from my conversations with you. We are confident
that you will succeed in giving enthusiastic performances
in all of your future activities.
Your successful achievement here should strengthen
your self-confidence and faith in your ability to develop
your specialized talents. We assume that you
will continue to take an active part with those dynamic
forces that are symbolic of lasting values in the professional
arts. Your earnest efforts and helpful attitudes
will give you time to hold pleasant thoughts about
your advisors, your teachers and your friends at
Performing Arts.
