The European Investment Bank is the long-term lending bank of the<br />

European Union. The task of the Bank is to contribute towards the<br />

integration, balanced development and economic and social cohesion<br />

of the EU Member States.<br />

1. Graduate Recruitment and Development Programme<br />

EIB has put in place a Graduate Recruitment and Development<br />

(GRAD) programme aimed at recent graduates looking to gain early<br />

professional hands-on experience in a leading European Institution<br />

and a major international financial player. The duration of the graduate<br />

contract is for a maximum period of four years.<br />

Paid?<br />

The graduate contract is a fixed monthly basic salary,<br />

currently set at w3,470.09. It offers benefits such Health<br />

and Pension Scheme coverage and accident insurance.<br />

Eligibility<br />

• You must have a university degree in a field related to the Bank’s<br />

activity.<br />

• You must also be a national of one of the EU countries or of an<br />

applicant country having started accession negotiations with the EU.<br />

• You should have no more than 2 years work experience since<br />

graduating, excluding summer jobs and traineeships.<br />

• Excellent knowledge of English and/or French is necessary.<br />

2. General Traineeships<br />

Aside from this graduate programme, the EIB offers a limited number<br />

of traineeships for university graduates with less than one year of<br />

professional experience. Traineeships normally last between 1 and<br />

5 months and are based at the EIB’s headquarters in Luxembourg.<br />

Trainees receive a flat-rate monthly allowance and travel costs to<br />

and from Luxembourg at the beginning and end of the traineeship.<br />

Trainees must cover their own accommodation costs.<br />

Application Process<br />

You must apply for specific positions published under “Current Vacancies”<br />

on the EIB website. New vacancies are posted regularly. Once you find<br />

a position that suits your profile, apply on-line. Before starting your<br />

application, take the time to prepare your motivation letter (in English<br />

or French) as well as your CV – you will need both of these to complete<br />

your application. Your application will be retained for a period of 5 years<br />

from the application date in the EIB database.<br />
