THE GODFATHER LIVE WITH
60 PIECE LIVE ORCHESTRA
Following the extraordinary success
of the 2016 UK concert tour, The
Godfather Live, a celebration of the
crime classic regularly cited as one of
the greatest films ever made, comes to
the London Palladium for matinee and
evening performances on 11 March.
Francis Ford Coppola’s timeless
masterpiece The Godfather, starring
Marlon Brando and Al Pacino and
winner of three Academy Awards, will be
shown on the big screen whilst Nino
Rota’s epic score is performed
simultaneously by a live orchestra.
Rota achieved international acclaim in
the 1950s and 1960s for his work with
Italian directors scoring movies
including White Nights, The Leopard
and La Dolce Vita. His music for The
Godfather, including its immortal love
theme, was ranked fifth in the influential
American Film Institute's list of the
greatest scores ever written.
The Godfather, released in 1972 to
popular and critical acclaim, tells the
story of the Corleones and their rivalry
with other New York crime families
between 1945 and 1955, as the title
character (Brando) hands over the reins
of power to his youngest son (Pacino).
In 2008, an Empire magazine vote
saw The Godfather named as the
greatest film ever made.
MANDOKI SOULMATES

Apollo is set to host a very special night
of music on Friday 3 March when the
musical collective of the Mandoki
Soulmates will roll into town for a very
exclusive one-off UK date as part of their
forthcoming European tour, which also
takes in dates in Paris and Berlin. The
Wings of Freedom Concert will feature
the combined talents of some of the
most renowned legends from the world
of Classic Rock, Prog Rock and Jazz.
The Soulmates are a unique group of
legendary Anglo-American icons,
brought together to celebrate musical
creativity – the project is the brainchild
of Leslie Mandoki, one of the most
influential music producers in Europe
who has previously worked with artists
from Placido Domingo to Phil Collins
and Lionel Richie. For over two decades
the Hungarian-born producer has been
putting on huge shows featuring some
of the most recognised, experimental
and successful superstars from the
world of Classic Rock, Prog Rock and
Jazz. Mandoki is also an acclaimed
musical director, working for Disney on
the highly acclaimed soundtracks for
films such as Mulan and Tarzan. The
Soulmates project is Man Doki’s passion
– combining his love for 1970s
experimental Rock and Jazz, which has
toured worldwide to widespread acclaim.
The 2017 Soulmates lineup will be
made up of creative talent including
Leslie Mandoki, Chris Thompson
(Manfred Mann's Earth Band), Nick Van
Eede (Cutting Crew), Tony Carey
(Rainbow), Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull),
Randy Brecker, John Helliwell
(Supertramp), Bill Evans, Udo
Lindenberg, Bobby Kimball (Toto), Till
Brönner, Szakcsi and more. The
repertoire combines a mixture of the
members’ own music – a sophisticated
and progressive rock sound combining
elements of jazz, with classic, wellknown
hits from the bands of these
original members and played together by
all of them.
Collectively, these artists’ contribution
to music is undeniable, and combined
they are an incredible live music force
that will come together for one night in
London as one band, on one stage,
creating one unforgettable sound.
