Biometric Technologies
••
Accuracy – How accurately the scanning devices can capture the biometric data in different
environments and how prone they are to disturbances
••
Stability – Not to be confused with permanence, this has to do with the time until a change
occurs in the biometric – or in other words how it varies in the short term
The same Redeye report also made a comparison of the “softer” aspects of each technology, i.e. how
convenient it is to use and how well it is accepted by potential users. The factors were:
••
Ease of use – How easy and intuitive it is to use
••
Privacy – High privacy means that there is little concern over someone taking the biometric
and using it for remote tracking and the like
••
Popularity – How well known and how widely used the biometric technology is
••
Acceptability – How supportive the society as a whole is of the technology
••
Introduced – What year the biometric came into use
