Plum ® trampolines are made with Springsafe ® technology and features. The Plum ®
Springsafe ® design confronts two important safety issues. Injury caused from contact with
springs and injury caused by strain.
With Springsafe ® we have created an environment where the jumper is completely
separated from the springs in that there is a physical barrier between the user and the
springs. We achieve this in various ways. You may sometimes hear the term “soft edge”
used to describe a trampoline with vertical springs, located below the mat or trampoline
bed. From the perspective of the jumper we have created the beneits of a soft edged
trampoline but still utilising the beneits of a spring. At Plum ® we believe that a good spring
is the best and safest way for a person to bounce on a trampoline so we embrace the spring.
All professional trampolines such as those used in the Olympics and in trampoline parks
use springs for good reason. Their users bounce for substantial periods each day and week.
They require a strong and yet forgiving bounce which must be truly in the vertical plane.
Trampoline jumping is repetitive so we want the bounce to be as kind on the joints as it can
be and therefore as smooth and as vertical as possible.
There are many factors which go into the selection of a spring and we can bore anyone with
the amount of work we have done looking at this. It’s not just the number of springs that
one should look at. Important factors are the diameter of the spring, the length, the shape
and even the diameter of the wire used to make it, combined with the user requirement
we are after. It all depends on what we want to achieve. For example a long soft spring will
have a very forgiving bounce but put that on the wrong height trampoline bed and a heavier
jumper could bottom out. A short harder spring will prevent that but the bounce will be a
little shorter and irmer. The shape of the trampoline such as round, oval or rectangular also
afects the bounce and spring selection.
Springs are important, and not just for a fun bounce. Springs provide an even and controlled
bounce, 99.99% of trampolines made worldwide use a spring design. Our Springsafe ®
trampolines are the safest choice.
