Key Programmes<br />
Maragra Açúcar - Illovo Sugar, Mozambique. <strong>Agri</strong>-<strong>IQ</strong> worked with Maragra Açúcar to provide<br />
training services for a community outgrower project. Grower will develop 1540 ha of sugar cane to<br />
supply the Illovo Sugar Mill at Maragra. The communities will also be growing 460 ha of good crops<br />
to ensure local food security.<br />
The training is based on a ‘train the trainer’ methodology and covers a wide curriculum from governance, business<br />
plan development, business understanding and technical farm husbandry training.<br />
Solidaridad Network Southern Africa - Swalizand, Malawi and Tanzania. Solidaridad engaged<br />
with <strong>Agri</strong>-<strong>IQ</strong> to deliver training on the Solidaridad Sustainability Management Tool (SMT) to the<br />
Sugar Extension Officers (Eo’s) across the Illovo Group. The Extension Officers are trained on the five SMT themes<br />
namely, Corporate Governance, Economics, Health and Safety, Environment and Production principles.<br />
Ministry of Trade and Industry - Lesotho. <strong>Agri</strong>-<strong>IQ</strong> has delivered on-site good agricultural<br />
practices, GLOBALG.A.P. training, facilitation and the provision of documentation for<br />
co-operative farms in the Hlotse district of Lesotho. This has resulted in the GLOBALG.A.P.<br />
Certification of Turn to Eden Farm - the first farm in Lesotho to be GLOBALG.A.P. certified. <strong>Agri</strong>-<strong>IQ</strong> extended to<br />
working on a further three farms who are growing deciduous fruit for export who have all been GLOBALG.A.P.<br />
certified. The Lesotho Government and the World Bank suppport these farms.<br />
USAID - Farm Worker Wellness Programme - South Africa. <strong>Agri</strong>-<strong>IQ</strong> has developed and<br />
implemented a peer led wellness programme for agricultural workers on 37 farms in the<br />
Mpumalanga Onderberg, reaching 5600 workers known as the Khanyisa Wellness Programme. Components of<br />
the training Programme include HIV/Aids, TB, cancer, gender awareness and ethical employment principles.<br />
