BRISBANE TRANSPORT
As in Sydney, the main operator in Brisbane is still under municipal control. Brisbane Transport runs a large fleet
out of six depots around the city: Abbotsford Rd, Bowen Hills; Creek Rd, Carina; Logan Rd, Mount Gravatt
(known as Garden City); Rudyard Rd, Richlands; Dean St, Toowong; and Ferric St, Virginia. The operator has
favoured most of the main chassis suppliers over the years, switching to Volvo and MAN after Leyland, then
concentrating on Volvo until switching rapidly from Scania to Mercedes-Benz then back to MAN for the latest
deliveries. A fair number of non-standard types have also come and gone in that time.
We recommence coverage with the first part of the large batch of CNG-fuelled Scania L94UB / Volgren delivered
between 200 and 2005. The operator has a history of building its own bodywork, continued here through the
assembly of Volgren kits in the Brisbane Transport workshops.
