Giving back with the
March of Dimes
Interview by Shivani Shah
An Interview with Amanda Cimaglia, March of Dimes
Development Manager
Shivani Shah (SS): Why did you choose to join an organization,
such as March of Dimes?
Amanda Cimaglia (AC): After I graduated with my
bachelor’s degree I decided to start giving back. After
a few years working for other non profit organizations,
I decided to get my Masters Degree in Public Administration,
and then I found the March of Dimes. I was
confident in joining MOD because they have a solid
foundation and have made incredible advancements
over the years. I knew it was an organization that gave
110% and would support not only the community but
also its employees.
SS: What does March of Dimes support and how?
AC: The March of Dimes mission is to improve the
lives of women and children, and ensuring that all babies
are born healthy. Our original mission back in the
1930’s was to cure polio which was a success. Over
the years the mission has shifted, but it always revolved
around children. Now we fight to make sure all babies
are born full term, and not premature.
SS:How does and much does the FBLA organization
assist the March of Dimes organization?
AC: FBLA has been an incredible partner to the March
of Dimes over the years. They have fundraised, and
held events in support of the March of Dimes and continue
to do so. Some schools raise upwards of $20,000
a year.
SS: In what ways has this organization helped you?
SS: How can high schoolers help the March of Dimes?
AC: High schoolers can do so much more than they
even know! There are numerous events they can put
on like super nights, lock ins, talent shows, miles of
dimes, or even mini March for Babies walks at their
schools. We also have pumpkin cut outs, and bracelets
that can be sold! Please get in contact with your local
