There will soon be a house on this very spot,<br />
This is what a homebuilder calls ‘a plot’.<br />
There’s lots to do, but before all that,<br />
Our team makes sure the ground’s nice <strong>and</strong> flat.<br />
<strong>We</strong> start by digging a big hole under our feet,<br />
Before filling it <strong>with</strong> a lot of concrete.<br />
With the foundations laid <strong>and</strong> a smile on our face,<br />
<strong>We</strong> know our house will stay in one place!<br />

Now <strong>with</strong> a trowel, some bricks <strong>and</strong> a grin,<br />
The building of a home can really begin.<br />
By mixing up s<strong>and</strong>, cement <strong>and</strong> some water,<br />
<strong>We</strong> get a gloopy stuff we call mortar.<br />
<strong>We</strong> spread some between all of the bricks,<br />
To keep things level <strong>and</strong> make sure it all sticks.<br />
Brick by brick, we build nice <strong>and</strong> tall.<br />
The mortar dries hard, for a strong solid wall.<br />

Next come the windows to let in some light<br />
Left a bit, right a bit. Perfect, just right!<br />
<strong>We</strong> fix them in place <strong>with</strong> a special kind of glue.<br />
All so the owners can enjoy a great view.<br />
They keep out the cold, let in fresh air,<br />
A house would look odd, <strong>with</strong>out any there.<br />
<strong>We</strong> have them all in as quick as a flash<br />
But we’re always careful so we don’t hear a smash!<br />

The outside’s almost done, but that’s not all,<br />
There’s plenty more indoors we need to install.<br />
Water pipes for washing, or having a shower,<br />
Cables <strong>and</strong> plugs, to bring in the power.<br />
Fires <strong>and</strong> radiators, to pump out the heat<br />
A bright modern kitchen, to make things to eat.<br />
Each job takes skill, to do it the right way,<br />
And that’s what we do, every single day.<br />

house use electricity or<br />

Inside the home, it all must look great,<br />
So pick up your brushes, time to decorate!<br />
<strong>We</strong> choose lovely colours, just the right shade,<br />
And get to work before the carpet is laid.<br />
There’s no rest for our hardworking crew,<br />
Until everything’s bright, clean, fresh <strong>and</strong> br<strong>and</strong> new.<br />
One final coat, the finishing touch,<br />
For a house that the owners will love very much.<br />

The work’s almost over, so now if you please,<br />
It’s time to h<strong>and</strong> over a new set of keys.<br />
To make things go smoothly, we do all that we can,<br />
Oh look, here comes the removal van.<br />
The perfect home has finally been found.<br />
The owners move in <strong>with</strong> smiles all round.<br />
<strong>We</strong> too can be happy, it’s a job well done,<br />
No time to relax, it’s on to the next one!<br />
Our jobs are all finished,<br />
but now it’s your turn, To give it<br />
a go <strong>and</strong> see what you’ve learned.<br />
<strong>We</strong>’ve made a few activities for<br />
you to try. <strong>We</strong> hope you have fun,<br />
