Women’s & Men’s Designer Fashion
Spring is about rebirth, and in Philadelphia it pronounces itself in the buds on trees, flowers beginning to<br />
peek above the soil, and early talk about the Phillies. At Boyds, the rebirth takes form in a new season of<br />
hand-selected designer fashion and accessories with you, our customers, in mind. The looks evoke the season<br />
through colors, patterns, and in the fabrics that we hope will delight you.<br />

With the recent passing of Jerry Gushner, we lost<br />
our family patriarch and business leader, whose<br />
contributions to Boyds, and the community, are too<br />
vast to list.<br />
He was at the forefront of spearheading the<br />
changes that made Boyds an iconic Philadelphia<br />
store--featuring European designer suits in the<br />
1970s and creating a luxury “Penthouse” on<br />
the second fl oor are examples. His passion for his<br />
family and his business were omnipresent.<br />
We thank our friends and customers for the<br />
outpouring of support and kind words. We take<br />
solace and great pride in knowing that a fourth<br />
generation of the family is following the tradition.<br />

Dr. Ali A. Houshmand, a well-respected academic<br />
administrator, has been a Boyds customer for eight<br />
years. He appreciates the variety and quality of<br />
clothing available at Boyds and finds the “time spent and<br />
attention to detail by the fitters and tailors very unique.”<br />
Lydie Szabo Brown<br />
“Style equals individuality,” so says Lydie<br />
Szabo Brown (aka Mrs. de Janosi) and she walks<br />
the talk. In describing her style, Lydie said,<br />
“Classic with a modern overlay of her own, that’s<br />
inspired by the style of Jackie O. and Audrey Hepburn.”<br />
Dr. Ali A. Houshmand and Bill Bolling, Sales Associate (LtoR)<br />
“Ramonita is a fashionista!<br />
It’s always fun to shop<br />
with her at Boyds.”<br />
Dr. Houshmand describes his style as “modern<br />
unique, using colors to create contrast or harmony<br />
while finding a balance so he appears age appropriate.”<br />
For the last three years, Dr. Houshmand has been<br />
consulting with Bill Bolling at Boyds (a sales associate<br />
for 39 years). Bill recognizes his taste and has built a<br />
relationship based on the time and effort spent<br />
getting to know and understand him. In his<br />
first interaction with Bill, Dr. Houshmand<br />
appreciated that he was customer service<br />
oriented, while giving him space to explore on his own.<br />
On his off hours, you’ll find Dr. Houshmand<br />
running or cooking using his famous hot<br />
sauce that is sold with proceeds benefiting a<br />
collegiate scholarship. He is affiliated with many<br />
charities. He’s the husband of Farah (a Boyds<br />
customer) and they are the parents of a 30-year-old<br />
daughter (also a Boyds customer) and a 28-year-old son.<br />
We thank him for his contribution to the<br />
community and for his continued patronage.<br />
Lydie has been a dedicated Boyds shopper for<br />
24 years. In fact, when she first shopped the<br />
newly founded women’s department, Ramonita<br />
Farnesi (Boyds sales associate for 24 years) was the<br />
only salesperson in the department! Since then, the<br />
relationship has grown into a true friendship.<br />
“Ramonita becomes best friends with her customers--<br />
she always smiles, never pressures me to buy.”<br />
Lydie looks forward to Ramonita’s calls about new<br />
arrivals that might fit her unique style.<br />
Although growing up in upstate PA, Lydie came to<br />
Philadelphia after attending law school in Ohio. She<br />
currently works in private investments at the Sarr<br />
Group, and is married with two sons. Her husband and<br />
both sons are also loyal Boyds shoppers. She also has<br />
a philanthropic side, supporting PAFA, SPCA,<br />
Cancer Support Community of Philadelphia<br />
and is also involved with The Academy Ball.<br />
We salute Lydie’s sense of style and her<br />
individuality, and are honored to have her as such a<br />
loyal client, with unwavering support of Ramonita.<br />

Made-to-Measure<br />
Compliments are commonplace to Boyds clients, as customers<br />
are provided the luxury and confidence of the perfect fit from<br />
one of the largest and experienced in-store tailor shops in the<br />
nation.<br />
Forty tailors leverage decades of hand-fitting suits, jackets,<br />
pants, shirts, and dresses to perfection; transforming off-therack<br />
to the look and feel of made-to-measure. Most notable is<br />
Sergio Martins, Master Tailor (left), who has been creating the<br />
perfect fit for Boyds customers for over 15 years.<br />
The Boyds made-to-measure program represents the<br />
pinnacle in sartorial luxury. Offering an extensive choice of<br />
luxe fabrics (like Loro Piana) and detailed fit and style options<br />
to make your suits and jackets customized to the minutest<br />
detail.<br />
Our made-to-measure dress shirt program provides Boyds<br />
clients with the option to control every shirt detail, from the<br />
highest quality fabric to construction. Not to worry, made-tomeasure<br />
delivery takes only about 4-6 weeks.<br />
