Requirements:
The course has no solid prerequisites. However, a decent understanding of at least some the
following will be helpful:
• Logic and set theory (e.g. MATH111/112)
• Basic programming (e.g. CENG230)
• Information systems (e.g. IS501/MIN502)
Workload:
Homework Assignments & Project: You will receive four homework assignments in the first half
of the term (before the midterm). The assignments will be small exercises based on the material
covered in the initial (relational database) section of the course ∗ After the midterm you will be
assigned a term project requiring you to build an interoperable EHR system.
Midterm & Final: The midterm exam will cover material up to and including week 7, and will be
held during the class hour on week 8 (i.e. Tentative date for midterm: Nov 15, 2012). The
final will cover the whole course and its date and time will be announced toward the end of the
term.
