Requirements:<br />

The course has no solid prerequisites. However, a decent understanding of at least some the<br />

following will be helpful:<br />

• Logic and set theory (e.g. MATH111/112)<br />

• Basic programming (e.g. CENG230)<br />

• Information systems (e.g. IS501/MIN502)<br />

Workload:<br />

Homework Assignments & Project: You will receive four homework assignments in the first half<br />

of the term (before the midterm). The assignments will be small exercises based on the material<br />

covered in the initial (relational database) section of the course ∗ After the midterm you will be<br />

assigned a term project requiring you to build an interoperable EHR system.<br />

Midterm & Final: The midterm exam will cover material up to and including week 7, and will be<br />

held during the class hour on week 8 (i.e. Tentative date for midterm: Nov 15, 2012). The<br />

final will cover the whole course and its date and time will be announced toward the end of the<br />

term.<br />
