Change at a swift pace is one of the realities faced by every individual in today’s
society. Like individuals, organizations must adapt and grow in order to flourish. On
nearly a daily basis, Body Positive faces changes in HIV/AIDS across all facets of its
operations. Clinical changes in the disease, changes in the demographics of those
infected and dramatic reductions in funding to fight it are constant challenges
for us. In the past year, Body Positive has responded to change in these important
areas:
Professional and Community Education
Body Positive led the response to the changing face of HIV/AIDS by presenting an
important and well-received professional conference, which enhanced knowledge
of the impact of HIV on individuals and our communities as well as stimulated current thinking in the area of
treatment.
Collaboration
A number of thought leaders from healthcare, academia, government and social service agencies came
together this past fall to share their perspectives on current trends in HIV/AIDS.
Commitment
Body Positive’s maintained its commitment to a wellness program in spite of drastic reduction of the federal
funding for the program.
Leadership
Carol Poore joined Body Positive as President and CEO in August, bringing broad experience in community
development and strategic leadership.
Strategic Focus
Body Positive reaffirmed its mission to lead in the fight against HIV/AIDS with a comprehensive plan to increase
the impact of programs in prevention, education and outreach, wellness and life management, and research and
community alliances.
Your support has allowed the agency to respond successfully in the aforementioned areas. Thank you. We are
sincerely grateful for your advocacy, time, energy and financial support as together we fight HIV/AIDS in an
ever-changing world.
