Welcome to Kentalya – the Volmary mother stock facility<br />
Kenya has long been a wonderful country to visit due to its great people, nature and wildlife. For<br />
decades, Kenya – which is right on the Equator in East Africa – has also been home to excellent flower<br />
production and other horticultural businesses, due to its unique climate and dedicated and talented<br />
people. For this very reason, Volmary purchased the Kentalya farm in 2008 and has been building it up<br />
ever since to produce the highest quality unrooted cuttings of bedding plants, perennials and other<br />
specialty crops. Today the farm spans 70 acres and employs 650 people year-round, with 300 seasonal<br />
workers during the peak bedding plant season.<br />
Kentalya was MPS certified in 2014, qualifying this production location to meet the highest standards<br />
needed to serve the global market. Greenhouses, water filtration systems, scouting programs, harvest<br />
monitoring, cutting grading and many more activities are among the best you can find in the world<br />
today. Millions of cuttings have been shipped exclusively to Europe via Volmary’s vast distribution<br />
network. Now, it is time to share these world-class cuttings with the North American market. Starting<br />
immediately, Kentalya quality cuttings will come directly to you via Volmary’s new joint venture<br />
company, Benary+.<br />
Kentalya prides itself on having the highest sanitation standards possible. All stock plants are renewed<br />
annually out of clean, virus tested elite TC material from European labs that are under Volmary<br />
management. This clean mother stock is the foudation for providing cuttings that are free of viruses and<br />
diseases, and meet the most stringent North American quality standards. Volmary's quality assurance is<br />
integrated in the entire production cycle and doesn’t end until the boxes are opened at your facility. It is<br />
our promise that your plants receive the best care from start to finish.<br />
While focusing on having great products and providing superior services to you, our customers,<br />
it is also a priority of Volmary and the Kentalya management to give back to its employees and the<br />
people of Kenya.<br />
There are many initiatives that make Kentalya a better place to work! There is a Kindergarten and<br />
school for employees’ children to attend. We have nurses on staff to care for employees and provide<br />
necessary vaccinations. There is a computer room for employees to discover the internet or check emails.<br />
And the Kentalya owned dairy farm produces milk for the employees at cost.<br />
For fun and recreation, there are even soccer fields for daily games. Not only is soccer the number one<br />
sport in Germany, it is also number one in Kenya.<br />
