As the first NASURF recipient, SRJC student Alexandra
Dubinin spent the past summer working with Duc in
the Jonathan Butcher Lab studying heart disease. “This
research opportunity has given me new appreciation for
medicine and helps me understand diseases on a new
level,” she said. “I never considered research before and
I fell in love with it. It’s exciting to make connections that
you weren’t expecting and see actual results.” This fall
Alexandra will be attending UC Berkeley with plans to
head to medical school. From Nick to Duc to Alexandra
and countless others, the power of an SRJC education,
SRJC experiences, and SRJC relationships is evident and
will continue to make an impact.
