Our Museum, Our Story, Our Way
MEMBERSHIP has been at the foundation of all our accomplishments From
grant applications, state and federal support to corporate fund-raising, the true
determining factor has been the answer to this question: “Does the community
support this project?”
Because our membership reaches across the county, state and region, we can
say “YES” and prove it with the MEMBERS who give annually to the work of the
Museum.
We hope that if you’re not a member, or haven’t renewed in awhile, you will
consider. There’s nothing more important to our long-term sustainabilty than a
growing membership. You are very much needed and welcomed!
If you are already a member, THANK YOU! We hope you will consider gift
memberships, student memberships for your kids and grandkids, teacher memberships
for the teachers in your life and encouraging YOUR FRIENDS to join at
whatever level they so choose. ALL are important and appreciated!
Membership supports programing and operations, special projects,
maintains the building and provides a community center for all Down East
throughout the year.
The CSWM&HC is community-owned and operation, made possible by
its members and the community it serves.
If you love Down East and believe that it is important to preserve and
celebrate this way of life and its traditions, your investment - as a member and
volunteer - is vitallly important.

Membership to the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center is a vital part of
the Museum’s operations and programming budget. Its membership of more than 2000 members
provides more than 30% of its annual budget, making this institution truly “communitybased.”
Membership is available at the following levels: Student or Teacher $15, Individual $30,
Family $50, Business $75. These levels receive the annual print: Bronze members $125, Silver
$500 and Gold $1,000. For a one-time gift of $3,000, Lifetime Members receive all past and
future membership prints as well as inclusion on the Lifetime Member plaque at the Museum.

2016 Membership Print
For those looking to support the museum any day is a great
day to join, but especially Waterfowl Weekend! This weekend
brings together all the good reasons to support the Museum
-- great programs, beautiful exhibits, interesting artists and carvers,
the best seafood ever and wonderful people who care about
our communities and our heritage.
Those who join or renew their membership at the bronze,
silver or gold levels will receive the 2016-2017 Core Sound
Museum Membership Print. Already a collector’s item, “Core
Sound by Firelight” goes back to the CSWM&HC’s first anniverary,
it’s 10th in 2002.
Alan Cheek wrote then,
My rendering of artifacts of Core Sound - hand carved
decoys from its storied carvers, boat models representing its wellrespected
boatbuilders, simpe cords used by its fishing industry
and an 1837 chart of Core Sound - reveals a simpler time when
the “highway” was Core Sound and it took the better part of a
day to go from Harkers Island to Hunting Quarters. These handmades
are cast in the light of antiquity by the “firelight,” which
was used for hunting its abundant waterfowl.
