While both the north and south of England claim<br />

to have originated our most beloved meal, the first<br />

fish and chip shop opened in Lancashire, in the<br />

north, around 1863.<br />

Since then, fish and chips have been as much an<br />

icon of British life as Buckingham Palace, Bobbies<br />

fact, fish and chips are so important, they were the<br />

only food not rationed during the Second World<br />

Parker’s Choice: Chapel Down 2010 Three Graces<br />

The United Kingdom is increasingly becoming one<br />

of the world’s premier producers of sparkling wines,<br />

and here at Parker’s we’re all about championing<br />

the absolute best of the Home Country’s business<br />

heroes.<br />

As anyone who’s lived in Britain will agree the<br />

UK is known for the high quality of its fruits,<br />

with grapes being no exception. Although British<br />

wine producted historically struggled with the<br />

‘unpredictable’ weather recent years have seen<br />

warmer climates create ideal conditions for<br />

vineyards amongst the chalky slopes of Southern<br />

England.<br />

These southern English wines are so good they’ve<br />

collected 9 medals in the Decanter World Wine<br />

Awards, and several have gone on to be preferred<br />

by French judges in a blind tasting against premier<br />

Champagnes!<br />

Chapel Down wines are our personal pick for the<br />

best British bubbly available, and we’re not the<br />

Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsey but they also<br />

This 2010 Three Graces is a special pick of ours not<br />

normally available for sale - the short growing period<br />

that year produced low numbers of exceptionally<br />

fine wine that stands a head above its peers.<br />

Sourced from the South of England from Kent to<br />

Dorset these grapes form a crisp and fresh wine<br />

with fruity aromas and a lively splash English wine’s<br />

signature acidity. The bubbles are refreshing and<br />

fine, but not too harsh.<br />

We recommend this wine with a portion of fish and<br />

chips for a proper British classic, or as an aperitif<br />

before a hearty roast dinner.<br />
