Leader: O God of all creation, on this day we join our hearts in humble gratitude for all that you have done in and for our church in these past 93 years. People: And Lord, we acknowledge that you have been our dwelling place in all generations. In fact, before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. “So teach us to count our days that we may gain a wise heart as we enter a new season, expecting God’s favor.” Leader: Lord, you said that the years of our individual life are threescore and ten, and you have given this church a life of fourscore and thirteen. People: For that, O Lord, we are grateful. Leader: We thank you for our founding members, for our former pastors, for our current pastor, for our members who are no longer among us, and for our present members. People: O Lord, we are grateful. Leader: Over these years we have come to this place among this people called David Chapel and have heard your Word taught and preached. Lives have been changed, a community transformed, and our spirits uplifted. People: For that, O Lord, we are grateful. Leader: As we look forward to our church life beyond these 93 years and face new challenges for ministries for ourselves and the community at large, our prayer is that we will continue to look first to you, the source from whence cometh our help. People: O Lord, please guide us. Leader: Lord, we believe when your Son said, “I came that they may have life, and have it more abundantly,” He was also speaking to the church. People: So Lord, please know that we want life and want it abundantly. Guide us into the door that is You, so that we shall be saved. Leader: Confirm now in each of us some worthy decision to be more like Jesus. Bring us to a new beginning with such vision of our Christian duty, such resolution to perform it, and such resources to complete it that whether in the remainder of this year we live or fall asleep, we shall not be dishonored and ashamed to stand before you. All: Lord, fill this place called David Chapel with your presence, have mercy upon us and grant us your blessings. AMEN. 9
