5.3.1 Review cooRdinatoR<br />
The role of the <strong>programme</strong> manager is to lead, plan and organize the review, prepare all the<br />
background material and organize the participation of internal and external reviewers. The<br />
<strong>programme</strong> manager may delegate this task to a senior member of his or her team, who will<br />
follow-up day-to-day planning and organization. The coordinator can be supported by one or<br />
more consultants.<br />
Examples of tasks of the review coordinator:<br />
• prepare a review proposal and plan;<br />
• prepare a budget and secure financing;<br />
• set up a review secretariat and review the task force, supported by national and international<br />
facilitators or consultants;<br />
• identify internal and external review team members;<br />
• prepare background documents, conduct a desk review and collect the necessary materials;<br />
• arrange the logistics of the review;<br />
• support the preparation of presentations;<br />
• support the preparation of the aide-memoire, slide presentation and press release;<br />
• support preparation of the report and its printing and dissemination; and<br />
• follow up the recommendations of the review and implement the plan of action.<br />
5.3.2 Review secRetaRiat<br />
The national malaria control <strong>programme</strong> should set up a secretariat to provide the necessary<br />
logistic, secretarial and communication support. This team should be drawn from national malaria<br />
control <strong>programme</strong> personnel who have access to <strong>programme</strong> resources, documentation<br />
and data.<br />
The review secretariat provides technical, organizational and logistic support for all phases of<br />
