Welcome
Damascus College Ballarat is an exceptional school community
that supports young people to reach their full potential through
the provision of a high quality, well-rounded education. We have
high expectations of our students to make the most of all available
learning opportunities, and we try to instil in them a passion for
life-long learning. Our College community provides a safe and
nurturing environment for its students, allowing them to explore
their interests and passions within a supportive and
well-structured setting.
At Damascus our Catholic faith tradition is at the core of who we
are and is reflected in our motto, ‘To live by the light of Christ’. Our
College has a strong and proud Mercy and parish heritage, and
is co-governed by the Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New
Guinea, as well as the Canonical Administrators of the Parishes of
Ballarat and District.
Damascus College is Ballarat’s only Catholic coeducational
secondary provider and we are pleased to offer the opportunity
for brothers and sisters to be educated together in a Catholic
secondary setting for the whole family.
We are fortunate at Damascus College to be able to offer our
students a contemporary educational environment, with access
to twenty-first century learning technology, modern classrooms,
large indoor and outdoor sporting facilities, and twenty hectares
of bushland and open space, complemented by colourful
native gardens.
Within this unique setting, our students are encouraged to learn
and practise leadership skills, to develop a strong sense of identity,
to be kind and generous to others, to use their gifts and talents
to help those less fortunate than themselves and to stand firm
in the knowledge that they are part of a caring and supportive
Catholic school community.
Students at Damascus College are provided with the opportunity
to experience a wide range of curricular and extracurricular
activities, which give them a broad and solid foundation upon
which to build their futures. Students are encouraged to
participate in all activities available at the College, regardless of
their skill level, as we firmly believe that a well-rounded education
provides young people with the best start in life.
At Damascus we aim to teach our students the skills they will need
to become confident contributors to the global community.
