RX MIXER – A PARTY WITH A PURPOSE
A Message from IACP Foundation’s President – Lisa D. Ashworth, BS Pharm, RPh, FACA
Welcome to the 13th Annual
Rx Mixer – Rx Around the
Clock, benefiting the IACP
Foundation! On behalf of
the entire IACP Foundation
Board and Rx Mixer
Committee, thank you for your
commitment, time and effort
to support the only foundation
established to benefit pharmacy
compounding.
As we gather again with our
colleagues and friends, we
want to emphasize that the Rx
Mixer is much more than a fun
party. This event is the primary
way we fund a vitally important
mission – to support the quality,
integrity, and advancement of
pharmacy compounding and
its practitioners for the benefit
of patients.
Why should you
contribute to the
IACP Foundation?
Very simply, you are helping
to ensure the future of
compounding…
The IACP Foundation is a nonprofit
501(c)(3) educational
foundation and serves as the
charitable extension of IACP
with a mission to fund research
and educational initiatives to
advance the art and science of
pharmacy compounding.
Each year, the IACP
Foundation’s activities include:
• Funding educational
programs and research
initiatives that enhance
the quality, safety,
responsiveness, and
credibility of pharmacy
compounding;
• Funding students to attend
Compounders on Capitol
Hill; and
• Sponsoring public education
programs that aspire
to acquaint health care
professionals and the public
with the importance of
compounded medications
in patient health.
This year’s total Rx
Mixer fundraising
goal is $205,000.
We need your help
to achieve this
milestone!
Your support and involvement
is crucial in raising funds for
the IACP Foundation so that
we can continue the good
works we started more than
12 years ago. Since 2005,
the IACP Foundation has
awarded more than $275,000
for studies researching
compounded preparation
potency and stability and
outcomes of treatment with
compounded medications and
over $90,000 for students to
attend educational programs
on compounding, and essay
winners. Your generous
contributions enable us to
continue the mission.
So, come back to a simpler
time – the 50s! Dress in your
saddle shoes, poodle skirts,
white t-shirts and leather
jackets and join us for classic
food, a sock hop, cold drinks,
casino games and fabulous
Live Auction, Silent Auction,
Wall of Wine, Big Board and
Reverse Card Draw. We hope
you enjoy your evening as we
join together to support our
beloved profession!
Lisa D. Ashworth, BS
Pharm, RPh, FACA
2014-2018
IACP Foundation President
By supporting the IACP Foundation,
you are helping facilitate the
advancement of patient care through
pharmacy compounding. Through
education and research, the IACP
Foundation will foster the pursuit of
excellence in pharmacy compounding
with the strategic use of its resources.
the individual who raises his
or her bid number) will be
responsible for bidding and
payment.
All Sales are Final. No
exchanges or refunds on
auction items are permitted
except where specified.
Everything is sold “as is.”
In the event of a dispute,
the auctioneer will have the
end of the evening.
BIG BOARD AUCTION
To enter a bid, a bidder gives
his/her number to one of
the Big Board volunteers
along with their bid amount
for a specific item. The Big
Board volunteer will record
their bid on the board. Your
bidder number and bid will
bid by someone else prior to
the board closing. You may
continue to bid as many times
as you like until the board
closes. The highest bidder at
the time of the board closing
LIVE AUCTION 1001 – 1012
Begins at 8:00 pm; Check-out at 9:45 pm
Day 2 - Start with a full Irish breakfast included at the hotel. The
morning is free time to visit all the above attractions that you
couldn’t fit in the previous day. Includes two VIP tickets to the
Guinness Storehouse, Dublin’s top visitor attraction. Rental
car provided for the drive to the lively town of Ennis, Co. Clare
(approximately three hours from Dublin), and stay overnight at
The Old Ground Hotel (4-star). The evening is free to explore
the town.
Day 3 - Enjoy a full Irish breakfast at The Old Ground Hotel.
Depart Ennis for a day tour on the Aran Islands. The Aran
Islands are rich in the language, culture and heritage of Ireland;
unique in its geology and archaeology and its long tradition of
gentle hospitality. Drive to Doolin (approximately 45 minutes)
to board your boat to the Aran Islands at 10:00am. Arrive at
Inishmore (“Inis Mór”), the largest of the three Aran Islands.
You will have time to walk around at your leisure before making
your way to the Fisherman Pub at 12:00pm to hop on board the
Aran Island bus tour where you will learn the history of the
island while stopping at attractions such as Dun Aengus and
the Seven Churches. Dun Aengus is the most famous of several
prehistoric forts on the Aran Islands, located at the edge of a high
cliff. A popular tourist attraction, Dun Aengus is an important
archaeological site that also offers a spectacular view. It
has been called “the most magnificent barbaric monument in
Europe.” Continue your journey to the “Seven Churches” which
dates back to the 8th century. Only two of these churches remain
intact; the rest lie in ruins. Return on the afternoon ferry to Doolin
and drive back to Ennis. Stay overnight at The Old Ground Hotel.
Day 4 - Enjoy a full Irish breakfast at The Old Ground Hotel.
Depart Ennis for the Shannon Region and take your car on the
ferry crossing at Tarbert. Drive along the picturesque coastal route
to the Cliffs of Moher and continue North through the scenic
Burren to the Ailwee Caves. Continue the drive to Killarney
(approximately two hours from Ennis) and stay overnight in the
Randles Court Hotel (4-star). Your evening is open to wander
around this vibrant little town.
Day 5 - Enjoy a full Irish breakfast at the Randles Court Hotel.
Enjoy a day tour on the Gap of Dunloe including “jaunting
cart” with local “jarvey” (driver) and boat trip on the Lakes
of Killarney. The Gap of Dunloe is a beautiful glacial valley in
the Macgillycuddy’s Reeks mountain range, which dominate
the skyline of Killarney. The three main lakes of Killarney and
the mountains that surround them are all within the Killarney
National Park. The Lower Lake is nearest to the town; it is
studded with islands and has Muckross Abbey and Ross Castle
on its eastern shore. Take a jaunting cart (pony & carriage)
for a 10km journey through the Gap, in the heart in the
Macgillycuddy’s Reeks. You will experience some of Ireland’s
most breath-taking scenery. Take a 20km boat trip through the
Upper Lake, the most beautiful of the Three Lakes, through
the Long Range Rover and past Eagle’s Nest Mountain, the last
home of the Golden Eagle in Ireland. The boat ride continues
passing under high mountains, arched bridges and to Inisfallen
Island, home to ruins of Inisfallen Abbey which dates back to
600 AD. Your boat journey will continue on to Ross Castle in the
heart of Killarney National Park. Return to Killarney in the late
afternoon and stay overnight at the Randles Court Hotel.
Day 6 - Enjoy a full Irish breakfast at the Randles Court Hotel.
Depart Killarney for your drive to back to Dublin (approximately
four hours) where you will enjoy a 3-course dinner (excluding
beverages) and an overnight stay in the beautiful Clontarf
Castle Hotel (4-star).
Originally built in 1172 as part of an inner circle of defense
sites protecting Dublin during battles, the Castle was opened
in 1998 as a 4-star hotel and has undergone a 10 million Euro
upgrade and renovation. Located just 10 minutes from the
heart of Dublin’s city center and 5 miles from Dublin Airport,
the Clontarf Castle Hotel is an oasis, tucked away in a tranquil
setting, surrounded by fabulous golf courses and the sounds of
lapping waters from the Irish Sea.
Day 7 - Enjoy a full Irish breakfast at Clontarf Castle. Check out
of the hotel and drive to nearby Dublin Airport where you will
return the rental car and say farewell to Ireland.
1008. Kentucky Bourbon Trail for Two
During your 8-hour excursion you will enjoy a sampling of
iconic distillery tours and tastings on what’s known as the “South
Route” of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Your personal driver
will share interesting history as you sit back and enjoy the ride…
soaking in the beautiful scenery along the way.
Stitzel-Weller Private Tour & Tasting - Your tour starts when
your private driver arrives at the hotel with an Escalade to take
your party of two in style to your first stop. Originally opened on
Derby Day in 1935, Stitzel-Weller’s fame comes from being the
birthplace of Pappy Van Winkle, the most sought after bourbon
in the world. The Stitzel-Weller Distillery is now home to Bulleit
Bourbon, a Diageo brand of KY Straight Bourbon Whiskey that
is characterized by its high rye content and aged for at least six
years. This historic distiller sits just a few miles from Louisville’s
thriving downtown scene.
Maker’s Mark Tour & Tasting - Maker’s Mark has arguably
the most beautiful distillery grounds in Kentucky, nestled along
Whisky Creek. The tour explores the distillery and warehouses
and ends in a well-appointed tasting room. Sample Maker’s
Mark, Maker’s Mark 46 (a Super-Premium Bourbon), and a
sample of the new-make white whiskey before it enters the barrel.
Each of you will receive a bottle of Maker’s Mark to handdip
in their iconic red wax. Maker’s Mark has one of the most
recognizable package designs in the liquor industry. If you place
two bottles side by side, you will notice that the wax seal is never
the same. That’s because each bottle is hand dipped by distillery
staff to create the trademark tendrils of wax that drip down the
sides. Bring your bottle home to show your friends!
Lunch for 2 - Enjoy lunch in historic Bardstown, listed as one of
the 100 Best Small Towns in America and known for its southern
charm. Choose from Kurtz Restaurant (specializing in Southern
cuisine, including skillet fried chicken and homemade cobblers
and biscuit pudding), Old Talbott Tavern (featured on both Food
Network and Travel Channel) and Mammy’s Kitchen, located in
the heart of downtown.
Jim Beam Tour & Tasting - Jim Beam is one of the largest
distilleries in the world and the #1 bourbon in the world.
They claim if they stopped production today they have enough
bourbon aging in their warehouses to meet demand for the
next twenty years. Brands include Jim Beam Straight Bourbon,
Booker’s, Baker’s, Basil Hayden, Knob Creek, Devil’s Cut,
Old Tub, Red Stag, Jim Beam Honey and Knob Creek Smoked
Maple. Enjoy a tour of the distillery, warehouse, bottling line, and
a small museum of commemorative decanters. The tasting room
is the envy of other distilleries and features pneumatic tasting
machines with over 18 products to choose from. Enjoy your ride
back to the hotel after a full day on The Bourbon Trail.
Should you prefer to customize your day’s itinerary, the driver
and vehicle are at your disposal for eight consecutive hours.
Driver’s gratuity included. You must be 21 to participate in the
tastings but guests of all ages are welcome on the tours.
Blackouts: Derby Week and Bourbon Festival
Hyatt Regency Louisville: Enjoy a 3-night stay in a standard guest room and the
hotel’s complimentary 24-hour gym, indoor pool, hydro-spa and outdoor tennis court
on the fourth floor. Louisville’s rich Bourbon culture is pervasive not only in its deep
Bourbon history and recent influx of downtown distilleries, but also in its restaurants, bars,
attraction, and even its music. Louisville is the perfect place to start or end your Kentucky
Bourbon Trail adventure, making it an Official Gateway to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
metropolitan airport in the 48 contiguous United States to Louisville, KY, subject to
availability.
the Symphony Amphitheatre to reflect its spectacular natural
Musical Bumps, Piccolo, Symphony and Flute Bowls are the
encore to Whistler’s Harmony Bowl, but until now have been
reserved for those willing to hike for their turns. This winter, the
Symphony Express will provide access to over 1,000 acres of
snow and gladed finales. Following the theme, the area also
features new run names such as Rhapsody Bowl, Adagio,
Founders’ Run, Staccato Glades, Glissando Glades, Encore
Ridge, Flute Bowl, North Flute Bowl and Hidden Chute. These
new trails add to the established runs in the region such as Burnt
pharmacy practice. The Art, Science,
THANK YOU TO OUR GENEROUS
RX MIXER CONTRIBUTORS!
IACP Foundation wishes to thank all of our Rx Mixer 2017
contributors. Your generosity and commitment to this event
will help us meet our goals for the coming year, which
include the vitally important funding of IACP Foundation
Research Initiatives.
The IACP Foundation was established in 2003 with
an ongoing mission of supporting research and public
education initiatives that advance the art and science of
pharmacy compounding. The IACP Foundation Research
Committee was formed in June 2004 and is responsible for
defining the Foundation’s annual research agenda, to foster
IACP Foundation’s mission by seeking and recommending
research projects for funding that promote and advance
pharmacy compounding. This Committee is even more
important than ever before as we help document the value
of customized medication services through demonstration
grants, stability studies, practice-based research initiatives
and more.
Since 2005, IACP Foundation has awarded more than
$275,000 in grants to academicians and practitioners. The
IACP Foundation strongly believes pharmacy compounding
research is vital to further solidifying the role of pharmacy
in personalized medicine. Students are also the future of
compounding with $90,000 in grants to attend educational
meetings and essays.
IACP Foundation is an organization exempt from taxation
under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)3. Items
purchased may result in a charitable donation deduction on
your personal income tax return to the extent the amount
paid exceeds the value of the donation. Please seek the
advice of your tax advisor regarding the taxability of items
purchased and received.
