Our mission is to enable and empower individuals
to develop the skills, self-confidence and attitudes
needed to flourish in learning and work within a
global economy.
Our aim is to proactively engage with employers and grow the
number and range of internship and graduate opportunities and
provide UCD with intelligence on the graduate labour market,
recruitment and selection trends.
Our employer engagement strategy is to develop a collaborative
and partnership-based approach between UCD Career Development
Centre, employers and students. We achieve this by advising
employers on strategies to access students they are seeking, and on
raising their profile on campus.
We bring students and employers together through a range
of activities; such as recruitment fairs, skills workshops and
presentations. Our work spans the entire student body and includes
close links with individual Colleges and Schools.

This event is open to all employers looking to promote
graduate and work experience opportunities in the
business, finance and professional services sectors.
Who will be attending?
Who can you target?
All students in University College Dublin are invited
to attend this fair. Penultimate year students, masters
students and recent graduates from all degree disciplines
may attend. Feedback from both students and employers
from past events has been overwhelmingly positive.

Technology Fair
Wednesday 27th September 2017
O’Reilly Hall, Belfield Campus
11:00am to 3:00pm
This event is open to all employers looking to promote
graduate and internship opportunities in the science,
engineering and technology sectors for 2017/18.
Who will be attending? Who can you
target?
All students, including final year students and recent
graduates can attend this fair, primarily from Mechanical,
Electrical, Electronic, Software, Chemical, Civil and
Computing Engineering, as well as Physics, Mathematics,
Chemistry and Biological Sciences.

Students attending will be UCD pre final year students

internships and year placements. Over 1100 students
from all degree disciplines visited the fair in 2017.

Presentations allow for a more in depth dialogue with

Internships
A key way of generating closer links with UCD is through
getting involved in academic internships. There are
numerous internships within the curriculum of UCD
programmes. UCD sees academic internships as a means
to enhance the academic experience for students as a
part of their degree. For employers, it is seen as a means
to:
• Make links between employer and students more
explicit
• Give hosts access to students early on in their studies
• Provide a means for hosts to market employment
opportunities
• Facilitate hosts in forming collaborative relationships
with academic and research staff

Specialist Recruitment:
Research and Development
To advertise more specialist opportunities requiring
a PhD or a research skill-set, to liaise with research
institutes for industry-academic collaborations or to
meet directly with Postdocs across disciplines, the UCD
Career Development Centre runs a specialist service for
researcher careers.
The Research Careers team hosts a wide range of tailored
networking events right throughout the year where
companies can come along and meet candidates with
specialist qualifications and advanced research, dataanalytics
and project management skills and experience.
Start-ups, SMEs and larger companies alike are invited
to get in touch and ask us more about schemes like
the SFI Industry Fellowship, the Marie S. Curie Society
& Enterprise call and the IRC Enterprise Partnership
scheme, opportunities that support researchers across
all disciplines to transition to industry while receiving a
salary from the funding agency.
We are happy to host focused round-table events
where you can come in and speak to a specific group of
PhDs about what you do and we also run events where
relevant funding agencies are present to answer specific
questions about schemes.

Alumni?
The UCD Alumni Network is a new online portal
for UCD alumni to reconnect, stay posted about
upcoming events and activities and to share career
information and advice with their fellow alumni .
There is a jobs and opportunities panel which
features upcoming vacancies to alumni (graduate
career and internship opportunities should be
notified to the UCD Career Development Centre).
Over the coming months the Network is gradually
being launched to 235,000 UCD alumni.

be suitable for experienced UCD alumni and you
would like it to be posted on the UCD Alumni
