18 POINTERS TO GET
THE MOST OUT OF YOUR
WEIGHT LOSS PLAN
by
Follow Us:
If one of your goals for the new season is to lose weight, then this article will
help you to keep the momentum going!
Many people resolve
to lose weight at
the beginning of
a new season. A
lot of us struggle
to achieve this. Without the
proper plan, it will be hard to
master.
1
WATCH WHO YOU DINE
WITH
If you’re watching your weight,
and going out to eat, you
might do well to watch who
you’re dining with. There is
research that suggests women
and men eat less around men
and more around women.
While the cause of this isn’t
understood, consider who
you’re going out with tonight.
2
ENJOY WORKING OUT
You’ll find that it’s a
lot easier to lose weight
successfully if you figure out
how to enjoy working out.
Incorporating something
fun into your exercise routine can help
increase your level of motivation. Get out
for a walk with a friend, play with your
pet or play video games that encourage
physical movements.
3
MONITOR CALORIE INTAKE
You must monitor how many calories
you consume. If you take in more calories
than you are burning, it will be impossible
to lose weight. Try to reduce your calorie
intake and eat meals in moderation. Track
what you are eating by writing it down;
make sure you know how many calories
you have eaten so you adjust further
intake for the day.
4
OWN A COMFY PAIR
OF GYM SHOES
Be certain that you have comfortable
exercise shoes. During your diet, you
will need to spend extra time at the gym,
making your sneakers a vital purchase. The
shoes need not be pricey; just be certain
to try them on so that you know they fit
properly.
5
SOAK UP THE EXTRA FAT
When you eat pizza, soak up the
extra fat with a piece of napkin. Pizza is
one of the healthier fast foods. However,
it is often greasy.
6
DO SOME STRENGTH TRAINING
Many reports have shown that
having a muscular physique helps you
burn more calories than having a body
with excessive fat. You can work out longer
and experience better results. Strength
training several times a week is the best
way to develop your muscles.
7
HAVE A WORKOUT BUDDY
Working out with a buddy is a fun
way to lose the excess weight. This will
give you the enjoyment and company of
8 | May 2017
someone you are familiar with, and also increase your motivation at the gym. The extra
adrenaline boost of working out with your friend can increase your overall efficiency.
8
TRY TO SNACK HEALTHY
Keeping healthy snack foods on hand will prevent you from grabbing unhealthy
and fattening junk food to curb your hunger. Put some small packages around your
house and in your car or purse. After awhile, you will be able to know when you need
food instead of other times when you emotionally desire food for one reason or another.
It’s a common habit to start snacking out of boredom instead of when you are truly
hungry.
9
DRINK ICED WATER
Drinking ice water can help you on
your weight loss journey. When really cold
water gets into your system, you begin
a cool down mode. To help your body
recover its lost heat your body will start
quickly burning fat. Avoid harmful drinks
like soda and stick to iced cold water
instead.
SPEND LESS ON CLOTHES
Don’t spend much on clothes.
When in the midst of a diet, purchase
discounted clothing from second hand
shops. You shouldn’t spend a lot of money
on clothing that will soon be too big for you.
EAT MORE CEREALS
It has been found that eating
cereals at least five times a week can help
you drop weight. Cereal contains many
healthy ingredients, like calcium and fiber.
But, not all cereals are healthy, so avoid
sugary ones like Cap’n Crunch. Grape Nuts
and Total are two cereals that are very
beneficial for your body.
EXERCISE MORE, EAT LESS
The best way to lose weight is
to exercise more and eat less. Boosting
your metabolism is the best way to burn
calories. Eating less calories will ensure
your body burns the fat.
TAKE PROGRESS PHOTOS
As uncomfortable as you may feel,
it can be helpful for you to take a photo of
yourself in your undergarments. To avoid
relapses in your eating program, you may
find it favorable to view the past pictures
to your present. You can use those past
photos to be your motivation.
KEEP A FOOD JOURNAL
Use a food journal to help you
track and manage your intake of calories.
If you keep a record of what you eat, you
can overcome mistakes that you may
have not known about otherwise. Even
little snacks here and there can add up,
and the food diary makes that very clear.
Keeping a food diary can help you reach
your weight loss goals. You don’t have to
just count calories. When you right down
all you are eating, you’ll be able to monitor
your consumption. You might eat more than
you previously thought you did. Keeping
track also keeps you aware of what you eat.
Do you think you would eat that cookie if
you must put it in writing that you did so?
BOOST YOUR METABOLISM
Speeding up your metabolism is
important when it comes to losing weight.
One way to speed up your metabolism is
to increase your intake of omega-3 fatty
acids. This can be found in fish, walnuts,
and flaxseed oil.
10 | May 2017
COUNT YOUR STEPS
Use an odometer when trying to
lose weight. Focus on taking around 10,000
steps per day if you want to lose weight. If
your odometer shows that you are walking
less than that, make a concerted effort to
move around more.
MAKE A LIST AND STICK TO IT
Make a complete list of healthy
ingredients to buy before heading to the
grocery store, and most importantly -
stick to it. You might find it beneficial to
set a limit on how much time you spend
shopping for your groceries. This will
help you avoid browsing the sections of
the supermarket that are stocked with
unhealthy foods.
APPRECIATE YOUR
TRANSFORMATION
A bit of vanity is not a bad thing. This is
especially true when you are trying to lose
weight. If you take the time to look at your
body and appreciate the transformation,
your motivation level will stay quite high.
If one of your goals for the new year is to
lose weight, then this article will help you
to keep the momentum going! You have
a good idea now of different strategies
to use. You also have new tips to try for
effective, healthy, lasting weight loss.
Good luck!
10 TIPS ON DEALING WITH
SLEEP APNEA
by
Jim Maranto
Follow Us:
There are effective methods for handling sleep apnea. Use the advice provided
to treat your apnea and sleep better. Your life will improve dramatically!
If you have sleep apnea, you
have already experienced the
sleep deprivation and ill health
that result from this condition.
You must get enough sleep in
order to function in your day-to-day life.
There are a lot of things you will be able
to do to help it. The information below will
help you learn how to deal with your sleep
apnea.
1
LOSE THE EXCESS WEIGHT
Being overweight can be a cause of
sleep apnea. The obvious solution is to
lose the excess weight. Look for a sensible
plan that includes both caloric restriction
as well as exercise. According to recent
scientific work, many people looking
to lose weight can also benefit from
reducing their intake of carbohydrates.
Try losing weight if you are obese.
Sleep apnea and obesity are often tied
together. Alternatively, if you shed twenty
five pounds you can see a tremendous
improvement in the symptoms of sleep
apnea, especially if you are dealing with
obesity.
2
DITCH THE ALCOHOL
Do not drink alcohol, especially prior
to going to sleep. Sleep apnea is just one
of the sleeping disorders made worse by
alcohol. Alcohol relaxes your muscles
and makes it harder to breath while you
sleep. It can also prevent you from waking
up when you stop breathing. This makes
for a potentially deadly combination.
It is important to stay away from alcohol
if you have sleep apnea because it can
help you see some improvement with the
condition. Alcohol relaxes the tongue and
throat muscles, which can cause them
to block your airway; smoking inflames
the airway, causing it to narrow. Both of
these habits can cause snoring and apnea.
Unlike those medical interventions or
pricey surgeries, eliminating these habits
can save you money.
3
USE CPAP NIGHTLY
If you have a prescription for sleep
apnea and you are prescribed a CPAP,
you should at least use it four hours
every night. It can be hard for some
people to sleep with the CPAP initially.
Keep in mind your CPAP device should
be used at least four hours per night for
16 | May 2017
it to help you. If you struggle to adjust
to it in the beginning, try using the CPAP
for about four hours while you sleep.
Adding a chin strap to your CPAP routine
can help to keep your mouth closed as
you sleep. The chin strap holds your
chin so that you cannot sleep with your
mouth open; it is a tiny piece of fabric.
CPAP machines do not function with open
mouths, so a chin strap can really save you.
If you need to stay at a hospital for any
reason, remember to pack your CPAP
machine. Your CPAP and your mask
should be with you for both planned stays
and trips to an emergency room. Your
mask has been fitted to you or maybe
you have a special humidifier attached
to your mask that a hospital won’t have.
Having your own machine will make using
a CPAP while in the hospital much easier.
Do not let your condition, treatment or
even your CPAP machine embarrass you.
Make it clear that it is necessary and don’t
allow those in your life to make you feel
embarrassed when using it. Anybody who
doesn’t understand doesn’t deserve your
time.
4
SLEEP ON YOUR SIDE
Instead of sleeping on your back,
sleep on your side, which can help to avoid
the symptoms of sleep apnea getting in
the way of a peaceful night’s sleep. When
sleeping on the back, throat and tongue
muscles are more likely to block your
airway. Be sure you try sleeping on your
side to get rid of a few of your problems
caused by sleep apnea at night.
5
MEDITATE AND EXERCISE
Try something besides sleeping
pills. Sleeping pills can make your
May 2017 |
17
throat muscles relax in an undesirable
way. Pills also can affect sleep apnea
sufferers in several different ways. Stress
relief through meditation or exercise
can also help you fall asleep safely.
If you suffer from sleep apnea, do not take
pills. These pills can cause your throat
muscles to relax and keep your airways
from properly functioning. These pills
can become very dangerous if you have
a bad case of sleep apnea; even though
you might be tempted to use them to
stay asleep, this is definitely not a good
solution.
6
TREAT SINUS PROBLEMS
AND ALLERGIES
Treat your allergies or other sinus
problems when dealing with sleep apnea.
Sleep apnea causes enough difficulty
breathing on its own. There’s no reason
to compound your troubles by suffering
through other problems that make it
harder to breathe. You can get a much
better night’s sleep if you treat your
allergies or sinus problems and keep your
breathing clearer.
7
SEE YOUR PHYSICIAN
If you suspect that you might have
sleep apnea, see your doctor and get a
referral for a sleep study. This procedure
will let you know if you’re suffering with
sleep apnea and what you are dealing with.
Once you know about your condition and
its severity, you can start getting treated.
8
STOP SMOKING
If you are still smoking then you must
stop - now. Smoking causes your airways
to enlarge, and it makes sleep apnea
much worse. To give up smoking, try any
cessation program. Nicotine replacements
are also good choices. It is the initial 30
days that are the most trying. The nicotine
will be out of your system at this point.
18 | May 2017
9
JOIN A SUPPORT GROUP
It’s helpful to become a member
of a support group. Sleep apnea is not a
common thing. Your friends and family
may be supportive, but can’t always know
what you are going through. Locate a
group with others like yourself. Try out
online forums if you’re a bit shy with
others.
DON’T SKIP YOUR TREATMENTS
Be compliant and go through
with your treatments. Though you may
feel inclined, don’t skip even a single one.
Follow your doctor’s advice if you want
function like everyone else in your daily life.
As you can now see, there are effective
methods for handling sleep apnea. Use
the advice provided to treat your apnea
and sleep better. Your life will improve
dramatically once you start treating your
sleep apnea and getting adequate sleep
every night.
13 SKIN CARE TIPS TO
MANAGE ECZEMA
by
Margaret Dunham
Follow Us:
Eczema is a fairly common condition, particularly in kids. No matter who you
know that has it, relief has to be secured immediately. Here’s how.
Eczema is among
the most irritating
skin conditions a
person can have.
If this issue is
one you face, your skin may
feel like your enemy. It is
vital to get relief soon with
this condition. The following
article has some good
advice for dealing with your
condition.
1
CHOOSE THE RIGHT
KIND OF CLOTHING
You likely do not give much
thought to the clothes that
you wear if you have eczema.
But in truth, it can make a
big difference. You need to
wear clothing that’s loose
fitting that is made of cotton
or something similar. Try to
avoid rough materials such
as wool. Also, wash all new
clothing items in a detergent
that doesn’t bother your skin.
May 2017 |
23
Choose soft clothing that will not cause
your skin to be further irritated. Certain
types of fabrics can contribute to flare ups.
Cottons are ideal when you have eczema.
You should also be sure that all new
clothing you purchase is washed before
you put it on. To accomplish this, use a
mild liquid detergent that is unscented,
and do not use fabric softener.
2
KEEP STRESS AT BAY
If you’re afflicted with eczema, do
your best to minimize your exposure to
stressful situations. This will help to keep
your condition under control. If you have
a lot of stress going on in your life you
should try to exercise, meditate, or figure
out something relaxing to do. You will
likely find that this minimizes eczema.
With all of the knowledge in this article, you’ll be feeling a bit more confident about getting some sleep and
not annoying anyone with your snoring.

3
CHOOSE PABA-FREE SUNSCREEN
When buying sunscreen, focus on those that are PABA-free. This ingredient can
really cause eczema sufferers some problems. Even if your sunscreen is completely
PABA-free, you should still read through the ingredients. If you can’t find a PABA-free
sunscreen that you like, then speak to your doctor about the options you have available.
4
MAKE SURE TO MOISTURIZE FREQUENTLY
If you have eczema, moisturize your skin frequently. There are great benefits to
using moisturizers on troubling eczema. You definitely want to moisturize after you
have taken a bath. Make sure the moisturizer you use contains no fragrance, chemicals,
or unnatural additives. They can cause skin irritation. Creams or ointments work better.
24 | May 2017
Moisturize properly as often as possible if you are an eczema sufferer. This will help to
keep outbreaks under control. Make sure that you moisturize each and every day. Stick
to unscented moisturizers with natural ingredients, and avoid those with chemicals.
Keep your skin well moisturized to help prevent eczema flare-ups. Soft, moisturized
skin is not as likely to crack. Use moisturizers that have very few ingredients, or simple
petroleum jelly. Chemicals can lead to flare ups, so choose a natural moisturizer.
5
OPT TO GET TEXT REMINDERS
Research that has been done
recently has shown that reminders in the
form of text messages can help you deal
with atopic dermatitis. This is eczema’s
most common form. This study was
conducted at Harvard Medical School,
and it shows it was successful for patients
above 14. Patients in their study did better
keeping up with their treatments and had
fewer symptoms than the control group.
A majority of patients opted to continue
getting text messages.
6
GET A HUMIDIFIER
Consider installing a humidifier
in your home to help manage your
eczema. Dry air makes your skin dry,
and can cause eczema, especially
during the winter months. A humidifier
introduces moisture into the air, so your
skin is less likely to dry out and provide
optimal conditions for eczema to thrive.
A humidifier may help if your eczema is
extremely patchy. It’ll put steam up into
your indoor air. The steam has water
droplets that moisten the area that it is
in. This will keep your skin comfortable
and smooth regardless of the season or
weather. Just make sure to clean it to cut
down on further health problems.
May 2017 |
25
7
DON’T TAKE VERY HOT SHOWERS
Taking a hot shower may feel great at
the time, but your skin could get irritated
in the process. Tone back the number of
hot showers that you have and see if your
skin condition improves. Take showers
with room temperature water. Clean your
skin with something gentle, and apply
moisturizer afterwards.
8
USE COTTON GLOVES
No one knows exactly what causes
eczema or how to permanently get rid of
it. Still, you can reduce your symptoms
and flare-ups. Did you know that dishpan
hands, characterized by skin cracking and
dryness, is a type of eczema? Try to use
gloves when you are doing the dishes. If
latex causes irritation, wear cotton gloves
underneath them. After you wash dishes,
try gently washing and drying your hands.
Then, apply your moisturizer directly after.
9
STAY AWAY FROM
HOUSEHOLD CHEMICALS
If you experience an occasional occurrence
of eczema, the flare-up can be attributed
to allergens. Stay away from household
chemicals that are strong, and avoid those
heavily scented laundry detergents. You
may notice a pattern of using one or more
of these products triggers your eczema
outbreaks.
USE A DAMP CLEANING CLOTH
When you dust your furniture,
moisten your cleaning cloth with a dusting
solution or water. This ensures the dust
around your home sticks against the
cloth. Dry dusting just moves dust into
the air. This can affect your breathing and
affect all that you touch.
KEEP YOUR NAILS SHORT
While it may sound silly, keep your
nails clean and short. Itching is a normal
issue with eczema. However, if you have
long, dirty nails, itching your skin can
cause an infection. Taking care of your
nails will aid in prevention.
GET RID OF CARPETS AND RUGS
Get rid of those throw rugs and
carpeting. As is the case for people who
suffer from allergies, carpets and rugs can
cause people with eczema to experience
issues as the dust contained in them can
cause problems. It is important to consider
tiling or hardwood floors.
AVOID EXCESSIVE SUN EXPOSURE
If you suffer from eczema, perhaps
people have told you to avoid sun exposure.
While it’s true that excessive sun can be
bad for you, that’s not always the case.
However, if you are deficient in vitamin D,
that can contribute to eczema. Vitamin D
deficiency is caused by not getting enough
exposure to the sun. Try to go outside
for about ten to fifteen minutes a day.
Eczema is a fairly common condition,
particularly in kids. No matter who you
know that has it, relief has to be secured
immediately. Put these tips to use today,
and find the relief you seek.
15 HELPFUL APPROACHES TO
HEMORRHOID RELIEF
by
Jim Maranto
Follow Us:
By reading this article, you will come to understand what causes hemorrhoids
and the many things you can do to find relief.
If you have hemorrhoids, you
should eat more fibers, drink
plenty of water, get some
rest, and use analgesics and
sitz bath. In severe cases, you
may have to look into surgical procedures.
By reading this article, you will come to
understand what causes hemorrhoids and
the many things you can do to find relief.
1
KEEP AREA CLEAN
It is vital to keep the area with
hemorrhoids clean. A moist towelette is
preferable to toilet paper, and it will probably
be more comfortable, too. A sitz bath that’s
warm can soothe swelling and pain from
hemorrhoids. Soak for at least 20 minutes.
2
ALTERNATE ICE AND HEAT
Alternating ice and heat is a good way
to treat hemorrhoids at home. Alternating
between ice and heat helps minimize the
size of the hemorrhoid and helps it to
heal. A 10 minute application of ice can be
followed by 20 minutes with a moist heat
application for maximum results.
KEEP AWAY FROM IRRITANTS
When battling hemorrhoids, you
should be careful not to expose the irritated
and inflamed tissues to any sanitary
products which may have fragrances,
essential oils or dyes in them. Exposure
to such chemicals, even momentarily, may
cause severe discomfort, swelling and
itching.
4
AID BOWEL MOVEMENT
To prevent hemorrhoids, make
sure to drink plenty of water. Staying
hydrated will keep your stools softer.
It is also a good idea to avoid caffeine
and alcohol as much as possible.
Hemorrhoids are often aggravated by
difficult bowel movements and the
resulting strains they put on the excretory
system. Eating less processed food and
drinking lots of water will make your stools
softer, and thus require less straining to
pass. Squatting also aids the process and
reduces the need to strain during a bowel
movement. Prop up your feet on a stool
while you use the bathroom. In places
where people squat instead of sitting
down for bowel movements, hemorrhoids
are uncommon.
32 | May 2017
5
DRINK LEMON WATER
If you have hemorrhoids, use lemon
in your water. Lemon’s soothing qualities
can decrease the pain and itchiness of
hemorrhoids. Drink lemon water often to
improve the way that you feel during the day.
6
TRY HOME REMEDIES
Try using home remedies before you
spend money on hemorrhoid medications.
Spend about fifteen minutes relaxing
in a sitz bath. This is especially helpful
following a bowel movement. Hemorrhoids
are often incredibly itchy, but do your best
to avoid scratching them, as this can only
worsen the problem overall. If you need
some relief, soak cotton pads in witch
hazel and place them on the hemorrhoids.
Be sure to drink plenty of water daily,
and eat lots of high fiber foods. This will
prevent you from needing to strain during
your bowel movements.
7
AVOID SCRATCHING THE AREA
Chicken pox and hemorrhoids are
just about the same because they both
cause you to scratch at them. No matter
how much you want to scratch, you
should resist the temptation in order to
avoid opening the hemorrhoid. A torn
hemorrhoid can be very painful, and can
lead to a serious bacterial infection.
8
INCREASE FIBER INTAKE
Take fiber supplements on an
everyday basis if you do not eat very
many fruits and vegetables. Make
sure you spread out taking them and
drink at least a gallon of water a day.
Consume a diet that is rich in fiber.
When you have a high dose of fiber in
your diet, your stools will be a lot softer.
A softer stool means you don’t have to
strain as hard and that can make things
May 2017 |
33
more comfortable. Eat fruits or take fiber
supplements to make it easier to pass
stools.
9
MANAGE PAIN AND
INFLAMMATION
If the pain and inflammation is becoming
severe, soak in a bathtub filled with
warm water whenever possible. Bathing
in about a foot of warm water is a great
way to improve circulation and lessen
the pain of hemorrhoids. As you sit in
the tub, your knees should be bent.
Allow yourself plentiful sitting time,
waiting at a minimum until that water
has started dropping in temperature.
If you are dealing with painful hemorrhoids,
then you should think about purchasing a
donut cushion. This is a cushion designed
to conform to your behind, so you can
be in as much comfort as possible when
those hemorrhoids flare up. Sitting on a
donut cushion will provide you with much
greater comfort than any other surface.
DRINK ALOE VERA JUICE
You can drink Aloe Vera juice to
loosen stools and make them easier to
pass. If you have a problem with the taste,
mix it with apple juice. Recommended
dosages are there for a reason; make
sure to follow them, even with something
as innocuous as Aloe Vera juice. If you
consume too much, you may experience
moderate stomach upset.
34 | May 2017
APPLY CREAM ON AREA
You can use cream to relieve
yourself, but don’t use it all that often.
Creams don’t alleviate irritation or
swelling, but they can numb hemorrhoid
pain. If you’ll be using a cream like this
for longer than one week, talk it over with
your physician. Over-using certain creams
can cause more damage than good.
BLEEDING IS NORMAL
It is natural for hemorrhoids to
bleed so do not be alarmed if you see
blood when you have a bowel movement.
This means you need to consume more
fiber, or take a softener so your stools
pass easier. The bleeding is most likely
occuring because your stools are too hard,
and they are aggravating the hemorrhoid
as they pass through.
AVOID FOODS
THAT CAUSE GAS
Intestinal gas can cause hemorrhoid pain,
so don’t eat foods that can cause gas.
The pressure this places on the rectum
can irritate the hemorrhoids and cause
inflammation. Gassy foods will give you
that burning sensation, so stay away from
them.
May 2017 |
35
AVOID LIFTING HEAVY STUFF
Avoid lifting anything heavy when
you have hemorrhoids. Lifting heavy things
can create significant pain. If you strain to
lift something, the swollen veins become
further irritated and the pain intensifies.
GRAPE SEED OIL
A spoonful of grape seed oil
can reduce the swelling. This also
alleviates the pain that often comes
with hemorrhoids. This can naturally
kill the infections that are inside your
veins and keep them from bleeding.
A lot of different treatments can work
well against hemorrhoids. You will not
need surgery unless your hemorrhoids
are really bad. By learning the causes or
taking preventative measures, you may
find some relief through reduction of the
frequency of attacks or lessen your pain
and severity that’s caused by them.
A 12-PART WALK-THROUGH ON THE
MOST UP-TO-DATE
KNOWLEDGE ABOUT
VITAMINS
by
Margaret Dunham
Follow Us:
It can be hard
to stay healthy.
It takes some
effort, and
part of that is
learning about it. Start the
process by reading over
the following excellent
tips about vitamins and
minerals in the article
below.
1
Learn all you can about vitamins and minerals, and use the knowledge to
boost your immune system and start leading a better life.
BALANCE YOUR DIET
To get enough
vitamins and minerals, eat
a healthy balanced diet
daily. Try getting between
five and seven portions
worth of fresh produce
daily, along with small
protein portions. If you
can’t do this, you should try
supplements to get some of
your vitamins and minerals.
Schedule your supplement
doses for mealtimes when
any supplements have fats
40 | May 2017
that need to be taken along with food.
Vitamins E, K, and A are some that won’t
absorb correctly if you take them on an
empty stomach. These particular vitamins
need fat in order to work well.
2
CALCIUM AND VITAMIN D
Calcium is integral for the
construction of your bones. If you want
your body to take in the calcium, you must
have enough vitamin D. You can get vitamin
D many ways, including sunlight, food,
and supplements. Any way you get vitamin
D, it’ll help you take in calcium efficiently.
Two of the best sources for vitamin
D are exposure to the sun and milk.
If you do not like either one, go for
a supplement. Vitamin D helps your
bones to be protected, while stopping
them from getting brittle on you.
Remember that some vitamins and
minerals, such as calcium carbonate,
must be taken with food. It is okay to take
calcium citrate without food, but calcium
carbonate has to be taken when you eat.
When taken alone, it won’t absorb easily
and will be wasted.
If one of your goals for the new season is to lose weight, then this article will help you to keep the
momentum going!
GET SOME IRON
To boost red blood cells, get more iron. These cells are most important; they carry
oxygen to each cell in your body. Women are going to need a daily supplement that
contains more iron, so women’s vitamins are formulated according to this knowledge.
When you struggle to breathe or feel lethargic, you may need more iron.
4
LOAD UP ON VITAMIN B2
Vitamin B2, or riboflavin, can be
found in dairy products, bananas, green
beans, asparagus and popcorn. Deficiency
can cause a host of symptoms, including
decreased red blood cell counts and
hemoglobin content, cracked lips and scaly
skin. Also, riboflavin can help you in your
fight against cancer long-term.
5
BOOST YOUR IMMUNE
SYSTEM WITH VITAMIN A
Vitamin A will boost the immune system
and it helps with your skin’s aging process
while keeping heart disease at bay. Don’t
go over the daily recommendations for
dose, though. Carrots are one of the best
sources for Vitamin A.
6
PREVENT INFECTIONS WITH VITAMIN C
Vitamin C is in citrus fruits and other
fruits. Most people are unable to receive
all of the vitamins and minerals they
need, so supplements are a great way to
make up for that. A vitamin C supplement
helps to prevent infections, colds, acne,
and ulcers. Studies have also shown that
vitamin C helps those who suffer from
ADHD, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease.
If you want to use gummy vitamins meant
for children as an adult, take several of
them. One gummy vitamin will not do the
trick. Determine the right nutrition for you
and multiply accordingly. However, make
sure you read the instructions so you do
not take too many.
7
TAKE SUPPLEMENTS WITH CAUTION
Know that vitamin supplements can be just as effective as the nutrients
in food. The nutrients you receive from a supplement may not be as readily
available as those from food, but they still give your body what it needs to
be healthy. Try a multivitamin and see how you feel after a couple of weeks.
However, use caution when you take supplements. Even though vitamins and minerals
can be healthy for your body, it can be bad if you take too much. This occurs often when
too many supplements are taken, and the danger is real. Overdosing on vitamins can
sometimes be fatal, depending on which vitamin you take, so keep this in mind as you
are taking them.
42 | May 2017
8
EAT RAW VEGETABLES AND FRUITS
Cooking your vegetables can
actually deplete the levels of vitamins
within them. If you need to cook
vegetables, steaming is a good way to
change their texture without getting rid
of nutrients. A veggie that has been flashfrozen
will have more vitamins as long
as it has not been cooked for too long.
Consume a variety of fresh fruits and
vegetables in a wide array of colors to
increase the amount of nutrients you
take in. If you reheat a refrigerated meal
that was originally freshly prepared
with nutritious foods, the nutrients are
degraded by the reheating process. So,
make your meals fresh, and only make
enough for that meal.
9
CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR
Ask your doctor about different
multivitamins and what are the best
ones that you should take. You can
also peruse reputable outlets online
for vitamin reviews. Supplements
are not regulated by the FDA, so you
have to research them on your own.
TRY TURMERIC AND
FLAX SEED OIL
Turmeric is a great vitamin for its antiinflammatory
effects. They both help fight
sickness and are anti-inflammatory. Flax
seed oil helps your joints, your heart, and
your brain.
PRENATAL VITAMINS INTAKE
If you are post-menopausal, don’t
take prenatal vitamins. Although not
pregnant, some women take this vitamin
to enhance the appearance of their nails
and hair. They actually have too much
iron for those past menopause and can be
dangerous to take.
BOOST YOUR
MAGNESIUM LEVELS
The majority of Americans are
magnesium deficient. It has been linked
to many conditions, including insomnia.
Diabetes and alcoholism can further
reduce magnesium levels. Magnesium
supplementation combined with a diet
of whole foods can address this issue.
People always try to be healthy, but
sometimes it’s just not in their budget.
Learn all you can about vitamins and
minerals, and use the knowledge to boost
your immune system and start leading a
better life. People without lots of money
to spend often settle for unhealthy fast
food. Grab a few bottles of primary
vitamins to ensure that you are getting
what you need to fight off colds and
allow the body to convert fat to energy.
Hopefully, you now understand how to
improve your health. Reading this is a
good way to start on that journey. Next
step is to make sure you also put it into
practice!
13 ALLERGY TIPS THAT CAN
CHANGE YOUR LIFE
by
Jim Maranto
Follow Us:
When you learn as much as possible about allergies and their triggers, it makes
it easier to manage them in your daily life. Here’s how to get started.
Allergies appear in many
different forms. Some allergies
can be dangerous and deadly,
while other allergies are
as trivial as a runny nose.
Some people have food allergies, while
others may be allergic to pets and even
medication. If you want to live with your
allergies or even overcome them, you
must first understand them.
1
TEST YOUR ANTIHISTAMINE
If you have to test an over-the
-counter antihistamine, test it at home.
It’s best to use them at home first because
a lot of them are filled with ingredients
which cause drowsiness. It’s always a
good idea to try the medication out in a
safe environment once or twice. Although
the label may not include any dramatic
warnings, you don’t want to find out that
you react poorly to the medicine while
you’re driving.
2
WASH OFF ALLERGENS
Are you aware that your body
may be causing some of your allergies?
This is often true! As you do the regular
things you do throughout the day,
pollen and dust sticks into your hair,
48 | May 2017
Once you educate yourself and learn the right way to care for your skin, you will be well on your way to being
free from your acne.
body and clothing. By the days end,
these things can really trigger your
allergies. Shower or put on clean clothing
before you lay your head down to rest.
Shower and wash hair before going to
sleep. As you do things during the day,
your hair and skin pick up pollen and
other allergens. If you don’t wash them
off, they can cause an allergic reaction
while you are sleeping. Simply hop in
the shower to cleanse the day away,
and avoid nighttime allergy symptoms.
Those afflicted with seasonal allergies
should shampoo their hair on a regular
basis. Hair tends to catch all the dust,
pollen and dander. Allergy problems can
be caused by unwashed hair hanging in
and around the face. When allergy season
is heartily upon you, be certain to shampoo
your hair every day.
3
KEEP BATHROOM VENTILATED
You can cut down on mildew and
mold by making sure that you have plenty
of ventilation in your bathroom. Mold
and mildew like warm and damp areas.
Therefore, hang up wet washcloths and
towels and turn on fan when showering.
May 2017 |
49
If your bathroom does not contain a fan,
open a window to let cold air in.
4
ALWAYS STAY HYDRATED
Keeping yourself hydrated is an easy
way to prevent and treat many bronchial
allergy symptoms. Unless you take in
adequate fluids, you may experience
dryness and inflammation of your mucosal
membranes. Lack of sufficient hydration
also affects the bronchial tubes by causing
your mucosal glands to produce secretions
that are difficult to break-up.
5
KEEP WINDOWS CLOSED
Keep your windows closed during the
height of allergy season so that outdoor
allergens can’t get inside. Allergens from
outside easily move into your home
through open windows. Check and clean
filters in your home regularly to reduce
allergen presence.
6
PACK SAFE FOODS
If you are a parent of a child with food
allergies and are going on a trip, keep a bunch
of safe foods with you. That is especially
recommended if you are considering foreign
travel. Foods in foreign countries may not
have clear ingredients labels. This may cause
accidental ingestion of allergens such as soy,
dairy, nuts and so on.
7
CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN
Talk to a doctor before taking any allergy medicine. Doctors can advise you on
which medications are best for the specific symptoms you have. Exercise care in the
proper usage and administration of allergy medication. Most of these medications need
to be taken for many days for them to be effective, so you shouldn’t expect instant
allergy relief. Remember to consult your doctor for the details on how to use them.
50 | May 2017
If you have exhausted all the usual allergy
treatments with little or no relief, it may
be time to visit your doctor for advice.
Doctors have access to medicines that are
not available over-the-counter. In addition,
a doctor can let you know other steps that
you can take for dealing with your allergies.
8
CHOOSE DEODORANTS AND
LAUNDRY DETERGENT
Choose your deodorants wisely. Many times,
there are ingredients that can cause an allergic
reaction with your skin. These ingredients
might not be good for you or your skin.
Use a laundry detergent that has a light
fragrance. Hanging your clothes to dry
outdoors may add a sun-kissed scent.
However, clothes that dry outside collect
pollen and dust particles. For people who
have no sensitivity to fragrances or dyes,
this is excellent.
9
MOVE YOUR TRASH BINS OUTSIDE
Move your garbage outside of your
house. When you keep trash inside your
home, even if it’s your kitchen trash
bag, mice and bugs are attracted to the
garbage. In the presence of mice dropping,
your allergy symptoms may become
more pronounced. If you still find rodent
droppings, you may need to use traps to
rid your home of the pests. If that’s not
effective, you may have to use poison.
RESEARCH BEFORE TRAVELING
When you want to go for a
vacation, there is a good chance
that you might pick a location that is out
of town. Unfortunately, it’s best to be
picky when planning your trip—especially
if you are allergy-prone. Prior to picking a
vacation destination, research prospective
locations for pollen counts, weather
conditions and other allergy triggers.
May 2017 |
GET AN ALLERGY TEST
It is not uncommon for allergy test
results to indicate more than one allergic
reaction. If this happens, don’t panic. Many
people touch, inhale or eat allergens daily
without experiencing an allergic reaction.
For many people they can come in contact
with allergens for years without having
any issues at all.
INCREASE VITAMIN C INTAKE
If possible, eat more foods
containing vitamin C. If that isn’t possible,
a supplement can help as well. Vitamin C
can be found in fruits, such as oranges and
grapefruit, or you can find inexpensive
supplements at any health food store.
Your immune system will get a boost and
be better able to keep allergies at bay.
CHECK FOR AIR LEAKS
Enlist the help of an expert to
search your home for air leaks. If you
have them, get them sealed so allergens
cannot get into your home. If your
home has openings, then you run the
risk of having pollen and pests which
are two causes of allergens entering
your home. Hire a professional who
can eliminate the cracks effectively.
When you learn as much as possible about
allergies and their triggers, it makes it
easier to manage them in your daily life.
You can find a lot of medicine in today’s
modern world to help you find symptom
relief. Read through this article carefully,
and start practicing what you’ve learned
here.
utilize exfoliating. Using exfoliating
gloves, along with regular washes, can
help to remove a significant amount of
dead skin cells. Remember, exfoliating
more than a couple of times a week
can lead to skin damage and irritation.
Use a loofah to rejuvenate your skin by
eliminating dead skin cells. Getting the
dead skin cells off your skin will brighten
it and give it a healthy glow. Dead skin
makes you look like an old person. You can
revitalize your face by removing dead cells.
SHOWER AFTER WORKING OUT
After a visit to the gym, make sure to
shower so as to eliminate sweat. A simple
towel will not rid the bacteria that is
lodged deep down inside. It will also help
to use water that’s warm.
By reading this article, you will come to understand what causes hemorrhoids and the many things you can
do to find relief.
TRY HOME REMEDIES
Baking soda and other household items can be used for proper skin care in a
variety of ways. Combine with water to make a pasty substance you can put on pimples,
or that you can rub onto dry areas such as knees and elbows. You can also eliminate
product buildup in your hair and scalp by mixing it with warm water.
5
GIVE UP ALCOHOL
Do not drink alcohol if you want your skin to stay healthy. Having one drink a day
can be okay, but you need to remember that alcohol can make your skin more oily. When
your pores are large and your skin is oily, you will suffer acne breakouts frequently.
6
KNOW YOUR SKIN TYPE
The first step in fixing your skin
problems is figuring out what type of
skin you have. Without knowing your skin
type, it will be hard to select the most
effective products for your skin condition.
Determine your skin type before you waste
money on ineffective regimens.
7
USE JASMINE EXTRACT
Jasmine extract is great to keep
your skin moisturized. It will also impart a
healthy, vibrant glow. The lotion contains
a lot of helpful antioxidants and is
wonderfully soothing. The only negative is
that it may be hard to find in stores, so you
may want to search online. You should also
think of it as a good investment that will
help you save on other beauty products.
8
MOISTURIZE YOUR HANDS
AND BODY
Right after your shower or bath, while
your skin is damp, be sure to moisturize.
Your pores are open and can easily
absorb the moisturizer. Moisturizer will
help combat dryness caused by pollution.
If you would like to reduce the aged
look of your hands, give them a little
tender loving care from time to time.
Exfoliate with a sugar scrub and then
let it set. Use a moisturizing cream
once you rinse them off. Let it absorb
58 | May 2017
thoroughly into your skin, then proceed
to filing nails and managing cuticles,
creating hands that you can be proud of.
Hangnails form as the result of dry skin
so being vigilant on moisturizing your skin
can have a big effect. Shea butter can work
magic on the areas affected by hangnails.
Picking at your hangnails can lead to ugly
fingertips and even painful infections.
9
LOAD UP ON NUTRITIOUS FOOD
Help your skin starting with the
inside. It’s only a myth that foods like
chocolate and french fries cause acne. With
that in mind, if your skin is problematic,
what you eat is important. Eat plenty of
fruits and vegetables, nuts and whole
grains. These are all full of nutrients
capable of curbing breakouts.
DITCH HOT WATER AND
GERMICIDAL SOAPS
Refrain from using hot water and germicidal
soaps to put your skin in the best position.
Germicidal soaps have the tendency to
strip your skin of necessary and natural
oils. Scrubbing your hands with scalding
water may strip away the topmost layer of
the skin, which protects layers below. Use
moisturized soap and warm water, and rub
gently to prevent drying your skin.
EASE YOUR BUNIONS
For a hot and swollen bunion, try applying ice to it. Ice helps relieve pain and
reduces swelling. Also, you should workout your joints if you are affected with this
condition. And, to give your feet more room, you could try a pair of extra-wide or men’s
shoes to help during a particularly painful time.
DITCH THE CIGARETTES
See if you can quit smoking. Smoking and using these products deprives your
skin of oxygen, cuts off its blood supply and makes you appear much older than your
age. It is bad for your whole body health, depriving you of essential nutrients. This
makes it harder for your skin to produce elastin and collagen. You can save both your
skin and your life if you decide to quit.
TREAT PSORIASIS WITH PLANT OILS
A lower-cost treatment for psoriasis is nutrient-rich plant oils. Argan oil is one
such oil, and it’s a natural emollient. It can help reduce the scaly, red patches that
psoriasis can cause.
HAVE A SPA DAY
Gather a group of your friends
and visit the spa. This gives you time to
relax and get facials. A spa visit isn’t just
simple self pampering but it also gives you
different health benefits.
ALWAYS USE A CLEAN,
SHARP RAZOR
If your skin is especially sensitive, use a
good, sharp razor when shaving. If you
use an old razor, or one of inferior quality,
it will irritate your skin by pulling on the
hairs and scraping. You will get razor
burn and even rashes if you do this. A
good, sharp blade will go over the skin
smoothly, with no discomfort or pain.
As you can now see, taking care of your
skin is not difficult. The tips you’ve read
should be able to treat any skin problems
you have. Give them a try and you’re sure
to get rid of your skin problems in no time!
10 POINTERS IF YOU PLAN ON HAVING
COSMETIC SURGERY
by
Jim Maranto
Follow Us:
Although cosmetic surgery is helpful for many people, it also has risks. Educate
yourself so you can better understand those risks and limitations.
Corrective or enhancement
cosmetic surgery is a
transforming procedure for
most people. Remember that
there are both limitations and
risks when it comes to plastic surgery. The
first step toward ensuring that your plastic
surgery goals will be met is educating
yourself. This article will provide some
basic information about plastic surgery
that can help you to make educated
decisions.
1
CHECK SURGEON’S CREDENTIALS
Always ask your surgeon about
his or her credentials and do some
research yourself. Talk to him about his
past education and experiences with this
type of procedure. You must also ask for
pictures of patients in which he has helped.
Make sure that the surgeon that you pick
is qualified to do the procedure you’re
getting. You don’t want to use a surgeon
with an expired license, so make sure it
is current. This can be done with a simple
phone call to the licensing bureau of
the state you live in. You can feel more
comfortable and confident with your
chosen surgeon by taking advantage of
this free service.
2
CALL IT RECONSTRUCTIVE
SURGERY
Call surgery that you get for non-aesthetic
reasons reconstructive surgery. Some
people perceive cosmetic surgery as a sign
of vanity and conceitedness. You will avoid
this judgment by others by just calling it
reconstructive instead of cosmetic.
3
OVERSEAS COSMETIC SURGERY
Consider traveling to a foreign
country for cosmetic surgery. Though
it may be a difficult proposition to
consider, there are many who find this to
be a great way to save. Procedures done
overseas can offer savings of as much
as 50 percent over the cost at home.
Always choose a reputable surgeon and
clinic if you do choose to go overseas.
Skimping when it comes to paying for
making major changes to the body is not
wise, but there are ways to eliminate a
few of the associated costs. The surgeons
May 2017 |
overseas often charge much less than
those in the United States, and many of
them are very reputable. Do your research
first, and you may learn that it is something
that will work for you.
4
RESEARCH AND DO
AN OCULAR INSPECTION
Take some time to research the facility
where your plastic surgery will be
performed. Whether it be a doctor or clinic,
they must be licensed and accredited. Even
physician surgery offices are supposed
to be inspected and registered. There
will be federal and local requirements
for any surgical establishment; doublecheck
that these are met at the facility
at which you’ll be having your surgery.
Check the history and reputation as well.
You need to check out the facility
where your surgery will be performed
to be sure they have the proper
accreditations and credentials. Find out
about the location’s history and visit
the location in person before the day
of your surgery to see if it is acceptable.
Look into any history of malpractice,
uncleanliness, or problems with the law.
Plan a time to check out where your surgery
is going to happen. If your procedure will
be done on an outpatient basis in your
regular doctor’s office, see if you can tour
the surgical rooms in advance of your
operation. Being familiar with the location
of your surgery will reduce the stress you
feel on your operation day.
5
GET IT DONE BY
LICENSED DOCTORS
Although botox isn’t considered as
cosmetic surgery, be sure that you
get a licensed doctor to do it for you.
These injections are now available at
spa and salon locations, where they
66 | May 2017
are administered by aestheticians, not
doctors. This may save you some money,
but can be dangerous to your health and
even your life.
6
BE EMOTIONALLY PREPARED
If you are going through a rough
stage in your life, hold off on surgery.
You will need a good amount of energy to
properly recover, and feeling emotionally
unwell can make things harder. Recovering
slowly might also cause your feelings to be
even worse.
7
INQUIRE ABOUT RECOVERY PERIOD
Ask your surgeon how long your
body will need to recover after the
operation. You need to know how long you
will be out of commission for. You do not
want to ruin an event you have planned
just due to poor scheduling.
8
CONSIDER THE COST
Elective cosmetic procedures are
not covered by health insurance, so it is
important to think of the cost. Different
surgeries cost different amounts of
money. It is important to make sure
any procedure you are considering is
affordable, whether in payments or lump
sum. You need to factor in follow-up visits
and any potential correctional procedures.
Alternative financing options should
always be checked out. Ask about a
payment plan, as many doctors have this
as one of the payment options. If there is
no flexible payment options then search
around for a doctor who does provide
flexibility before getting the surgery done.
9
DETERMINE YOUR MOTIVATION
You can often benefit from a talk
with a psycho-therapist prior to scheduling
cosmetic procedures. It is important
to understand why you are choosing
to have the procedure done. Often
the reasons for having the surgery are
fleeting feelings, or perhaps unrealistic
expectations of what can be done.
Before opting for cosmetic surgery, try
to fix any issue that makes you unhappy.
Most procedures go well, but there are a
lot of risks you need to consider. Issues
like being overweight, may be rectified in
less drastic ways, so give all options full
consideration.
KEEP YOURSELF HYDRATED
You have to make sure that
your body stays hydrated all of the time.
Hydration is especially important when
it comes to surgery. What this means is
that you should be drinking more water
than normal for one month prior to
these procedures and for several months
following these procedures. It is handy
to carry a water bottle on you always.
Cosmetic surgery has many advantages,
not the least of which is increased selfesteem.
People who have gone though
a major injury, like a burn, can really
benefit from it. After a person suffers
from serious burns, they no longer
feel like themselves. Because of this,
cosmetic surgery is used to improve the
appearance and self-esteem of the patient.
Although cosmetic surgery is helpful for
many people, it also has risks. Educate
yourself so you can better understand
those risks and limitations. This article gave
you some of the information that you need.
Allow this information to help you make
the best decisions for you about surgery.
13 HELPFUL SOLUTIONS TO
REMEDY YOUR
SNORING PROBLEM
by
Margaret Dunham
Follow Us:
With all of the knowledge in this article, you’ll be feeling a bit more confident
about getting some sleep and not annoying anyone with your snoring.
If you think that
you snore too
loud while you
sleep and are
embarrassed
by it, then you want to
read through this article.
The tips below will provide
you with the advice that
you need to alleviate your
snoring. That way, you can
have a peaceful night’s
sleep without worrying that
you are disturbing your
roommates.
1
FIND OUT
THE CAUSE
If you want to stop snoring,
you must first determine
the cause. Some medical
conditions can be at the
heart of snoring, and it is
imperative that you see
a doctor to find out if you
need medical treatment. If
you don’t, it could actually
make your health worse.
Eczema is a fairly common condition, particularly in kids. No matter who you know that has it, relief has to be
2
DITCH THE CIGARETTES
If you smoke cigarettes, there is a
good chance that you also snore. Quitting
one can mean quitting the other. When
you smoke, the tissues in the back of your
throat can become irritated and when
this happens, your throat can swell up.
Throat inflammation leads to snoring, and
snoring, in turn, leads to a sore throat.
3
STOP USING ILLEGAL DRUGS
Quit using drugs that are illegal.
The use of illegal drugs can make your
snoring worse. For instance, marijuana
has the relaxation effect as prescribed
tranquilizers. Commercial pain killers
can also have the same affect. There are
numerous reasons to avoid illegal drugs,
and snoring is just one of them.
4
USE NASAL STRIPS
If you use nasal strips, they will
help to reduce snoring. These strips look
somewhat like an adhesive bandage.
However, they have a completely different
function. Nasal strips are specially
designed to hold the nasal passages open.
When you do this, it makes it easier for
your nose to breath and it eliminates
snoring.
5
DO SOME TONGUE EXERCISES
Use a simple tongue exercise to
alleviate snoring. Run your tongue across
the back side of your upper teeth. Pull
your tongue back towards your throat
and then slide it forward up to your teeth,
and continue this alternation for three
minutes. Developing stronger muscles
should help you keep your throat and
nasal pathways open while you sleep.
Exercise your tongue regularly. While this
may sound rather daft, stick your tongue
in and then out of the mouth to exercise
it. Try pointing the tongue in various
May 2017 |
73
directions while keeping the tongue
muscles tight. Include all directions when
performing this tongue exercise. This will
strengthen the muscles of your tongue
and reduce your snoring.
6
SLEEP ON YOUR SIDE
When trying to avoid snoring, try
falling asleep on your side each night.
If you sleep on your back, it ups the
chances of you snoring. However, if
you roll over onto your stomach, your
neck will experience stress. Due to this,
sleeping on one side is the best option.
A simple solution to reduce your snoring is
to sleep on the left side of the body. Nightly
snoring will soon have your long suffering
partner wanting to sleep somewhere else.
Sleeping in this position is not linked to
any kind of medical facts for reduction of
snoring. Although, there is evidence that
sleeping like this opens airways and helps
reduce snoring.
7
GIVE SINGING A TRY
Some doctors believe that building up the muscles in your upper throat can end
snoring problems. There is a physician who advocates singing as a method of limiting
snoring, because the act of singing works to strengthen the muscles of the soft palate
and the throat. When these muscles are toned, your air passages are less likely to narrow
at night, and once you fall asleep, snoring should not be an issue.
8
LOSE THE EXCESS WEIGHT
If you lose weight, your snoring will naturally be reduced. Too much fat, especially
around your neck, can heighten the pressure on your passageways. This can cause your
muscles to become lax late in the night, leading to an increased snoring problem. You
can notice quite a difference in your snoring if you even lose a few pounds.
74 | May 2017
9
DO NOT SLEEP WITH
A FULL STOMACH
One way to fight snoring, is to eat less
food in the hours before going to bed.
Going to bed with a full stomach will likely
exacerbate your snoring. This causes
the diaphragm to push up towards your
throat and the pressure can contribute
to blocking or decreasing your throat
passages. Snoring is often caused by
reduced airflow through a narrow throat.
If you suffer from snoring, eat a large
breakfast and lunch. This prepares you
to eat a light dinner, which can mitigate
snoring. Laying with a less full belly can
help you breathe better when sleeping.
DO NOT EXERCISE TOO
MUCH BEFORE BEDTIME
Be careful about exercising too much right
before bed. Physical activity right before
sleeping can result in shortness of breath.
This causes airways to tense and constrict,
leading to the progression of snoring.
HAVE SOME HONEY
BEFORE SLEEPING
Eat a spoon or two of honey before
going to bed. Though the reason for its
effectiveness is unclear, many proclaim
the benefits of honey for reducing snoring.
Not surprisingly, this is just another of the
many folk remedies that revolve around
honey.
75
SKIP ALCOHOL AND
SLEEPING PILLS
Alcohol and sleeping pills are some
individuals’ way of dealing with snoring.
This is because these items contain
chemicals which relax your muscles and
your central nervous system. Snoring can
be caused by lax and lagging muscles
in the throat. Be extremely careful, as
these substances can exacerbate sleep
apnea, a dangerous sleeping disorder.
Alcohol and sleeping pills cause your
nervous system and throat muscles to relax
and make you snore. They may also cause
the development of sleep apnea, a disorder
which can cause cardiovascular disease. Do
your best to avoid these if you snore.
GO EASY ON DAIRY PRODUCTS
To minimize or prevent snoring,
keep dairy products out of any of your
nightly snacking or eating habits. Dairy
products encourage mucus production,
and when that mucus drains into the nasal
passages, it can clog them, which makes
you snore. Those dairy products that
produce mucus will end up blocking your
airways and that leads to excessive snoring.
With all that you learned from this article,
you’re hopefully feeling a bit more
confident about getting some sleep and
not annoying anyone. Put these tips into
practice and give each a try on their own.
You may then study the results until you
find the one that works for you.
SIP ON HOT TEA
Sipping on hot tea can relieve your
stress. Passionflower, kava kava, and
chamomile tea are all famous for their
mild sedative effects. You need to steep
your teabag for at least ten minutes to
get the strongest tea. Have a cup in the
morning or if you need to before bed to
help you relax.
4
TAKE A DEEP BREATH
Breathing before you respond can
MANAGE YOUR TIME
If you develop good time
management skills, it will go a long way
towards reducing your stress levels. If you
are always running about in a disorganized
manner, following no set schedule, you
are bound to feel stressed out. Learn to
control this problem by using your time
more wisely and prioritizing events. When
you plan things in advance and commit to
your schedule, you can accomplish things
without the needless pressure that stress
creates.
7
LEARN TO SAY NO
You really need to learn to say no
if there are times when you feel yourself
getting overwhelmed. Even if you are
naturally a pleaser, taking on too much is
going to bring stress into your life.
8
MEDITATE AND
VISUALIZE POSITIVELY
Meditation and positive visualization
has been used to reduce stress for
centuries. Consider trying it to lower
your stress. Research has been done
that suggests that if you picture positive
things, you can reduce your stress.
Even if you do not have access to pictures,
just imagining a sunny beach where
you can lay back and listen to the gentle
sounds of waves crashing ashore while you
soak up the sunshine or the invigorating
and soothing feel of a steamy bath can
make a huge difference in successfully
envisioning stress leaving your body. Take
a few minutes to imagine a relaxing place
and forget about your troubles. Even this
brief habit can make a big difference.
82 | May 2017
9
HAVE A WARM BATH
A nice and warm bath is always a
good remedy against stress. Soothing your
muscles in hot water is one of the easiest
ways to relieve stress. If you don’t have
time for a bath, take a few minutes to rinse
your hands and face with hot water. If you
imagine being in a bath at the same time,
you will feel a bit of relief.
CONSIDER NATURAL
TREATMENTS
Have you considered a tonic for stress
abatement? Investigate homeopathy as a
method to reduce anxiety and stress. These
all natural treatments are considered to be
extremely safe and has been proven that
it works with a large amount of people.
The Kava plant has been shown to be as
efficient as alprazolam, whose brand name
is Xanax.
KEEP STRESSFUL
SITUATIONS AT BAY
Just step back and walk away from the
stressful situation. Think about things
that calm you and confirm your abilities
in correctly handling any situation. Doing
this will allow you to succeed in removing
yourself from this situation.
INTERACT WITH ANIMALS
To reduce stress and tension,
play with an animal. Some people report
reduced stress levels after contact with
animals, particularly if you pet and
interact with them. Pay attention to how
animals live only for the moment, and try
to emulate them. Sharing your home with
a pet or two can help to make you feel
more relaxed and, as a result, enable you
to handle life’s problems better.
ORGANIZE AND TAKE
CONTROL OVER YOUR LIFE
A good tip for eliminating some
of the stress from your life is to get your
life organized. A lot of stress comes from
forgetting something or from losing
something, which causes frustration. If you
improve your organizational skills, you will
be able to regain some control over your
life, and subsequently your stress levels
should decrease.
LOOK AT RELAXING IMAGES
Looking at something that soothes
the eyes will help manage stress. Paintings
or photographs of beautiful mountains,
gardens, or waterfalls can provide your
brain with input that directly relaxes it.
You may not always have a photograph
of a beautiful place handy, so use your
imagination to create one in your mind.
Imagining yourself in these types of
settings will help your body feel relaxed.
THINK HAPPY THOUGHTS
Practice positive thinking. When
you notice yourself getting stressed, think
of something you like. You will find that
these thoughts cause your brain to naturally
release self-soothing neurotransmitters
like dopamine and serotonin.
AVOID ALCOHOL, TOBACCO,
AND DRUGS
Many people who have to deal with
a large amount of stress use drugs
including alcohol, tobacco, and
cocaine to try and get rid of the stress.
Interestingly, some of these activities
can actually increase stress. Try avoiding
alcohol and smoking to reduce stress.
As was discussed in the beginning and
throughout this article, stress can have
a negative effect on your mental and
physical health. Hopefully, this advice
given can help you identify what’s causing
you stress. Moreover, this can also help
you sort it out and live a more happy and
healthy life.
11 MUSCLE BUILDING TIPS THAT WILL
CHANGE YOUR LIFE
by
Margaret Dunham
Follow Us:
It is not as difficult as you thought to get the great look of toned muscles! It
takes some hard work, but this info will put you on the path.
Although most
people want
to look good,
many don’t
want to spend
time building muscle. In
contrast to the common
herd, though, you are ready
to make the necessary
effort. You’ve chosen to
start by educating yourself
on the subject, too, which
is really smart. Read on to
find easy ideas, to build
muscle in no time at all.
1
THREE FOUNDATION
EXERCISES
Your top three exercises
will be a squat, deadlift
and bench press.
These exercises are
commonly considered the
foundation of a successful
bodybuilder’s program and
there are good reasons
for this. Not only do they
increase bulk and strength,
but they increase overall conditioning.
No matter how you vary your routine,
always perform these basic exercises.
Research muscle exercises to ensure
you are engaging in the most effective
exercises. While some exercises focus
on toning certain muscles, others will
help you to build those muscles. You
should use a variety of exercises that
target different groups of muscles.
If you want to gain muscle, put your
attention on dead lifting, squatting, and
bench pressing. By doing these exercises,
you will build muscles and get in shape
fast. Consider these exercises to be your
core workout, even if you decide to add
additional components into your routine.
2
DON’T FORGET TO STRETCH
An often overlooked part of a good
exercise program is warming up. Take your
time increasing your muscle mass to avoid
muscle strain and injuries to ligaments.
Stretching before working out is the best
way to avoid injury. Prior to serious lifting,
try light exercises for around five or ten
minutes, then three to four light and
medium warm-ups.
3
MIX UP YOUR ROUTINE
Like anything else, if your routine
becomes boring, you will be less likely
to make time for it. Engage in different
exercises each time you workout to ensure
you work different groups each time.
Having a new workout to look forward
to each time you go to the gym makes it
May 2017 |
89
more likely that you will stick with your
bodybuilding program.
4
TAKE CAUTION WHEN
USING CREATINE
Use a creatine supplement to aid you in
building muscle. When you take these
kinds of supplements you help push
yourself and build muscles in your
body. Any type of supplements should
be taken with care. Always follow the
specifications listed on the product
and don’t think that more is better.
Make sure not to use these types of
supplements at all if you have any type of
kidney problem. These supplements have
also been linked to muscle compartment
syndrome, muscle cramps, and heart
arrhythmia. Teenagers are particularly
affected. Try to ensure that you use the
supplements safely if you decide you
are going to integrate them into your
workouts.
5
CONSUME ENOUGH PROTEIN
Making sure that you are getting
a lot of protein will help you build a
lot of muscle. An excellent method of
consuming an adequate amount of protein
is by making use of supplements, such
as protein shakes. They are particularly
effective after a workout session, and
also before going to sleep. Take one
each day if you desire weight loss and
muscle strengthening. If you want to
bulk up in mass as well as muscle, then
you can consume as many as three daily.
Some people mistakenly increase protein
consumption when beginning to build
muscle. This can increase your calories
and if you don’t exercise enough, you can
gain fat. Increase protein intake slowly so
90 | May 2017
your body can transform it into muscle well.
6
CONSUME ENOUGH CALORIES
Make sure that your diet is
nutritionally sound on days that you are
going to lift. Approximately 60 minutes prior
to exercising, consume calories. A sufficient
calorie intake does not mean eating to
excess. You just need to consume enough
additional calories on the days you exercise
to provide your muscles with nutrition.
7
ADD REPS AND SETS
Be sure that you add in as many reps
and sets as possible as you workout. Try
taking breaks that don’t exceed 1 minute
and try 15 reps for each set. Maximizing
lactic acid production in this fashion
stimulates muscle growth. Repeat this as
many times as possible in each session to
result in maximum muscle growth.
8
MAINTAIN A CONTROLLED REP SPEED
When you lift, it is OK to fudge a little.
Slightly using your body for pumping out
a few final reps is a great way to increase
your workout volume. Remember, though,
that this tactic should only be used when
there is no alternative. Don’t let your reps
get sloppy.
9
SET WORKOUT SCHEDULE
You must restrict weekly workouts
to no more than four. This will help your
body recover by giving it the time it needs
in order to repair itself. Working out more
than that may injure you and could be
counterproductive to your goals.
May 2017 |
91
IMPROVE YOUR TECHNIQUES
Pre-exhaust any necessary muscles to get around limitations. As an
example, you may find that your bicep muscles fatigue earlier than your lats
when doing rows. You can solve that issue by doing a type of isolation exercise
that does not require use of the biceps as much. Your lats will then be preexhausted,
but when you do your rows, your biceps should not limit you anymore.
Focus on improving your technique during workouts. This should trump your emphasis
on speed, frequency and intensity of your regimen. Every exercise needs to be practiced
to ensure correct execution. In order to get the best effect out of later exercise with
heavier weights, good technique needs to be learned as early as possible.
TAKE YOUR TIME
If you are a beginner, take the
time to get your form right before you
seek to build power. Work on your form
first. Training yourself to use good
form will help you as you add more
weight. This can increase the risks for
injuries, which you don’t want to achieve.
While becoming huge and muscly isn’t for
everyone, building muscle tone and strength
has many benefits everyone could enjoy. A
fitter body will improve your confidence as well
as your strength, joints, agility and endurance.
As you can see from the article above, it is
not as difficult as you thought to get the
great look of toned muscles. Although it
does take a bit of hard work, the material
you learned here should put you on the
path to muscle building so you can feel
really good.
16-PART CHECKLIST ON
HOW TO GET RID OF
YEAST INFECTION
by
Jim Maranto
Follow Us:
If you use this article and follow its advice, yeast infections can be a thing of
the past. Just make sure you use the tips as described!
Do you know how horrible
a yeast infection is? What
many people aren’t aware of,
though, is that there are plenty
of things out there that can be
used to deal with these infections. What
you’re about to read could change your
life for the better.
1
SEE YOUR DOCTOR
When you suspect you may be
developing a yeast infection, make an
appointment with your doctor. Do not wait
for a long time to see if the symptoms
clear up. The longer you allow it to linger,
the longer it will take to cure it.
2
TRY NOT TO USE DOUCHES
While you might think you’re
cleaning yourself, your body knows how
to naturally stay balanced. By disturbing
the natural body balance with any outside
source, yeast infections are more likely
to occur. Instead of douching, clean the
infected area with some soap and warm
water.
96 | May 2017
Stress can have a negative effect on your mental and physical health. Hopefully, this advice can help you identify
what’s causing you stress.
3
LOAD UP ON ACIDOPHILUS
Try eating yogurt. When you start
to feel a burn or itch in the designated
area, eat a cup of yogurt for some
additional security. Acidophilus cultures
which are in yogurt help battle yeast
infections. This healthy bacteria can
effectively diminish the unhealthy
bacteria that leads to yeast infections.
You need to know how acidophilus can
make your life so much better. This culture
can be found in food, such as yogurt, and
can stop a yeast infection in its tracks.
Always purchase the sugar-free version
of live culture yogurt. Yeast infections can
actually feed on sugar within your body.
Acidophilus tablets can help your body
fight off yeast infections. The enzymes
found in acidophilus tablets can create
equilibrium within your body. An
imbalance inside your body is typically the
culprit of most yeast infections.
4
USE ANTI-FUNGAL CREAM WITH
CAUTION
If you are employing an anti-fungal cream
to treat your yeast infection, avoid using
a diaphragm or condom. This cream may
May 2017 |
97
cause interference with your birth control
methods. Instead, do not have sex until
the infection is gone. If you must have
sex, speak to your physician about birth
control options.
5
WASH WITH VINEGAR SOLUTION
Indulge in a nightly bath that
includes cider vinegar (two cups). Vinegar
can help you to maintain a healthy pH
level, which will decrease yeast growth.
Don’t soak your body in the bathtub longer
than you usually do. As an alternative, you
can also try a vinegar douche.
6
AVOID SCENTED PRODUCTS
If you are prone to develop yeast
infections, avoid perfumed bath products
and soaps. These scents can cause bacteria
to flourish, and you increase your chance of
getting a yeast infection. It is important to
avoid scented products in the vaginal area
including tampons or sanitary napkins.
Scented products should never be placed
in your genital region. These chemicals can
dry out your vagina and disrupt balance.
This could cause dryness and/or itching.
When this occurs, a breeding ground for
yeast organisms is created. Use nonscented
hygiene products and look out for
any discomfort or burning that may occur.
7
TEA TREE OIL
Tea tree oil is a wonderful natural
remedy, and it is useful in curing yeast
infections. Mix a few drops of tea tree oil
with some sweet almond oil and apply it
on the infected area. Undiluted tea tree
oil can cause skin irritation, so make sure
you mix it with a carrier oil. This natural
remedy is effective in both combating an
infection and restoring order to vaginal
chemistry.
98 | May 2017
8
WEAR LOOSE, COMFORTABLE
Avoid tight clothing and synthetic
fabrics. Tight clothing restricts airflow and
keeps moisture and heat from escaping.
Yeast thrives in areas where the air isn’t
able to circulate. Try to find clothing made
of natural fabrics including cotton, and be
sure they are sufficiently loose-fitting.
9
BE CAREFUL WITH ANTIBIOTICS
If you are on antibiotics, take steps
to prevent a yeast infection. Doctors
regularly prescribe antibiotics as an
answer for bacteria and viruses, but they
do have an effect on vaginal bacteria.
This bacteria can be essential, so make
sure that you are careful when using
antibiotics.
HOLD OFF ANY SEXUAL CONTACT
Yeast infections are easily sexuallytransmitted.
If you suffer from an infection,
hold off on all sexual contact until at least a
week after your symptoms have subsided.
Make sure not to kiss anybody if the
infection is in your mouth or your throat
and take care when washing silverware.
If you’ve had sex while you’ve had a yeast
infection, your partner will need to be
treated, too. Yeast infections may be
passed, which can make it hard to cure.
If one of you has the infection, using
condoms can prevent your partner from
getting it.
BIRTH CONTROL PILLS
If you’ve got yeast infections
and you’ve started a new kind of birth
control, it may be causing the infection.
Contraceptives which contain estrogen
can change the pH balance of your vagina.
Speak with your physician about changing
birth control to help with your condition.
May 2017 |
99
USE PROPER PRODUCTS
To relieve itching, use gentle
products. Yeast infections commonly
mean burning and itching sensations that
cause you to crave immediate and serious
relief. Just keep your common sense.
Buy products that are specifically for
yeast infections. Resist the temptation of
grabbing the first itch cream available in
your medicine cabinet.
TRY GARLIC TABLETS
Garlic is a killer to yeast infections.
If you dislike the taste, you can buy tablets
at your local supermarket or health store
that have no taste. You can even insert
natural garlic tabs inside your vagina
during a yeast infection to help cure the
symptoms.
WEAR COMFORTABLE
UNDERWEAR
Going without underwear can leave you
prone to yeast infections. Wear underwear
that has a cotton bottom, since this keeps
the area drier. If you do not want to wear
underwear, use a deodorant or spray
made for the vaginal area.
ALWAYS STAY HYDRATED
Drink enough water every day! You
need to drink more than the regular eight
a day when you are infected. Drinking
more results in more frequent urination.
As such, you will deplete your body of the
yeast’s food.
WATCH YOUR SUGAR INTAKE
Avoid overindulging in sugary
drinks and foods. When you can regulate
your intake of sugar through diet, then
you can minimize your chances of a yeast
infection. Also, excess sugar can cause
you to contract a yeast infection. Do not
get rid of all sugary food, instead do your
best to eat a healthier amount of sugar.
If you have had even one yeast infection
in your life, you know that it is something
you do not want to experience again. But,
if you use this article and follow its advice,
these infections can be a thing of the
past. Just make sure you use the tips as
described.
12 WAYS OF
DEALING WITH
ACNE
by
Margaret Dunham
Follow Us:
Once you educate yourself and learn the right way to care for your skin, you
will be well on your way to being free from your acne.
In the struggle
against acne,
sometimes
it can seem
like nothing
you are doing will help.
Expensive treatments and
creams promise fantastic
results but, in many cases,
they don’t work. With solid
advice and the correct
information, you will rid
yourself of your acne
problems and maintain
acne-free skin.
1
TEA TREE OIL
Tea tree oil can
prevent acne from forming
when applied to acneprone
areas. Tea tree oil is
a natural product that does
not dry skin out like many
other acne treatments but,
depending on the individual,
can just as effectively reduce
the buildup of oil within
your pores.
When you learn as much as possible about allergies and their triggers, it makes it easier to manage them in
your daily life. Here’s how to get started.

2
DON’T PICK OR POP
The temptation can be hard to ignore,
but it is imperative that you don’t pick or
pop your acne. Apply creams instead. You
are making way for infection and scarring
when deciding to pick your acne spots. In
fact, it can lead to discolorations in your
skin that may take years to disappear.
3
CHANGE YOUR
LINENS FREQUENTLY
Frequently changing your linens can have a
remarkably beneficial effect for your acne
problems. Sleeping causes you to transfer
these oils onto your pillowcases and
sheets. They build up on your bed linens
and can cause further problems with acne.
Wash linens often to stop this transfer loop.
Acne can be less of a problem if you sleep
on a pillowcase that is clean each night.
Think this through. Throughout the night,
you could be tossing and turning and
smearing the dirt and oil all over your
face. You can avoid the dirt and grime that
accumulates by having a washed, fresh
pillowcase to lay your head on each night.
4
TRY TO AVOID COSMETICS
Try not wearing make-up or
use water-based makeup, instead, to
see if it impacts your acne. Makeup
can clog pores and make acne worse.
Resist the temptation to use cosmetics
as an acne cover-up. Avoiding it will
help keep your pores clear and clean.
One of the best things that you can do
to cover the blemishes on your face is to
use a blemish stick. With a blemish stick
you can target the problem areas very
precisely. Blemish sticks tend to be not as
heavy as concealer; they will let your skin
breathe.
May 2017 |
105
5
GET SOME SUN
Schedule more outdoor time to
reduce your acne. The oil in your skin will
dry up under the sun. Your skin may get
worse at first as the oil rises to the surface,
making the acne worse. After a few weeks
of exposing your skin to the sun, you
should notice an improvement.
6
USE ACNE MEDICATIONS
Products containing salicylic acid are
very effective at treating acne. This major
ingredient combined with hydroxyl acids
help the skin shed dead cells quicker. You
should put acne medication on your whole
face instead of spot treating as other acne
may be forming under your skin that you
cannot see. Applying the medication over
your entire face can prevent blemishes
that cannot yet be seen. You need to apply
the medication to your forehead, too.
Never combine acne medications. Many
people rushing to treat their acne decide
to mix up various medications in the hope
that a mixture will have more effect then
one individually. While one acne cream
may contain a small amount of a harsh
ingredient that doesn’t hurt your skin,
combining it with harsh chemicals in other
creams may create a synergistic effect that
damages your skin.
7
FOLLOW A SKIN CARE ROUTINE
Create a regular face-cleaning plan
to help rid yourself of acne. You need
to dedicate the proper time each day to
caring for your skin. Cleanse your face
every morning and each night using a
cleanser appropriate for your skin type.
However, do not over-wash your face,
as this will dry out your skin and cause
your skin to produce extra oils. Keeping
your face cleansed and free of dirt is
an incredible defense against acne.
If you suffer from persistent acne, make
sure to use only natural skin care products.
The majority of products available to treat
acne contain harsh chemicals that will
106 | May 2017
only serve to worsen your skin problems.
This results in more acne due to blocked
pores. Your skin can be healed by natural
products because they have antibacterial
elements within them.
8
TAKE ZINC SUPPLEMENTS
A great vitamin to take to prevent
acne is zinc. Zinc helps to diminish the
amount of free radicals that form under
your skin. To reduce bumps caused by
cystic acne, try taking zinc supplements
once daily to combat the acne from inside.
9
GO FOR A SWIM
If you have access to a pool, try
swimming when you can. Exercise, like
swimming, tones and loosens up your body,
so that it functions better and can fight
acne more effectively. Chlorine might help
reduce your acne. However, if you notice
your acne is getting worse, you might be
reacting to chlorine or another chemical.
ALWAYS STAY HYDRATED
Drink plenty of water to keep
your skin hydrated, and reduce acne. You
need to drink the recommended amount
of water each day. It is recommended
that everyone drinks at least 6 to 8
glasses of water a day. These dead
cells can cause your pores to become
blocked, resulting in even more acne.
A vital element in getting rid of acne is to
consume lots of water daily. When you are
dehydrated, your skin is also. As a result, it
can become dry. When this occurs, pores
are easily clogged with the dead skin cells
left behind by dry skin. This will irritate the
acne symptoms. Taking the time to drink 8
to 10 glasses of water per day is important,
because it will keep the body hydrated and
help with the shedding of dead skin cells.
107
DRESS COMFORTABLY AND APPROPRIATELY
Dress appropriately for the weather and try to wear clothing made from natural
fibers. The climate can cause you to breakout. Uncomfortable clothing made out of
synthetic materials can aggravate the acne you have. High temperatures put a general
strain on the body, and this can also encourage acne breakouts. Dress appropriately for
hot weather and keep the seasonal acne irritants at bay.
BE STRESS FREE
It is often said that stress can
create or worsen acne breakouts. Luckily,
there are several tactics that you can
employ to help you diffuse your stress
levels. Yoga exercises are very helpful
as stress reduction techniques and
can boost your physical fitness levels.
Once you educate yourself and learn the
right way to care for your skin, you will be
well on your way to being free from your
acne. Your acne will not be cured overnight.
Implement the suggestions here into your
facial care routine, and expect to see new,
clear skin and fewer acne breakouts.
exercise methodology can make a huge
difference in fitness program outcomes.
You’ll get much better results when you
follow the below advice.
1
GO OUT FOR A WALK
An excellent exercise for getting
yourself in better shape is walking. Go
heel to toe; push off with one heel and the
toes last in order to increase pressure on
the calves. With arms bent at the elbows,
swing them gently to tone this body area
at the same time.
2
SHOP FOR FITNESS CLOTHES
Buy new fitness clothes. This will help
boost your self-confidence when you’re still
away from your fitness goals. Even if you
purchase a small item, it can motivate you
to go to the gym and show it off.
3
KEEP A JOURNAL
Track everything you do throughout
each day. Write down your exercise,
foods, drinks - all of it. You should even
jot down the weather you had that day.
You can then change anything to your
daily routine that can help you get fit.
If you need to skip exercise at any time,
include the reason in your daily record.
Keep a record of the workouts you do each
day. Note your workouts and anything
else that you engage in. See how much
you walk every day with a pedometer. A
written record helps you easily track your
progress while working toward your goal.
4
CHECK MACHINE PADDING
Use dumbbells or barbells on a bench
to become more physically fit. Choosing
the correct bench is important to having a
good workout. A good thing to remember
is that if you feel the wood on your back, it
is best to look for a different bench. These
benches can cause damage to your spine.
You should check the padding thickness
on your workout bench by pressing down
on the cushioning. If you feel the wood
beneath the padding, you need to move
on to another machine. Always workout
on machines with enough padding; if not,
you won’t get enough support, and may
experience bruising.
5
DON’T SKIP THE WEEKENDS
Don’t take weekends off when you’re
working on a fitness plan. Many fall into
the habit of kicking back every weekend as
a way of putting workweek stress behind
them. A fitness routine should always
be something you are thinking about at
almost all times. It’s not a good idea to
slack off on the weekends just to have to
make it up again that Monday.
6
INCREASE WORKOUT
DENSITY AND SPEED
Accelerate weight loss by increasing the
density of your workouts. If you work on
doing more exercise reps in a smaller
time period, you are going to lose weight
faster. This can be accomplished by
taking shorter breaks between intervals,
or dispensing with breaks completely.
You lose weight quicker doing this.
If you want to take off on a sprint you
should try to increase the time of your
stride. To be successful, you must keep
your body over your feet and not let your
feet get too far ahead of you. Pushing off
with the toes of your rear leg will propel
you forward. You will see an increase in
your running speed with the practice of
this technique.
7
COUNT IN REVERSE
Count your reps in reverse. If you
know the number of repetitions that you
want to complete, count down. This helps
make your workouts seem much easier
and shorter because you’re thinking in
lesser amounts. It is also more motivating
when you tell yourself there are only a few
more left to do.
8
KEEP IT BALANCED
Your front and your back should be
balanced. If you are experiencing back
pain when doing abdominal exercises,
114 | May 2017
work to strengthen your back muscles. By
exercising abdominal and back muscles,
you will avoid back pain.
9
SET CONCRETE GOALS
If you’re going to start doing weight
lifting, come up with concrete goals first. If
you want bigger muscles lift heavy weights.
More repetitions using lighter weights
will give better results for sculpting and
toning.
CONSULT A PHYSICIAN
Schedule a visit with your physician
before beginning any exercise routine. Your
doctor can provide you with advice and
opinions that will keep you healthy as you
work to change your body. Even if you’re
generally healthy, you can still get some
great input by visiting with a professional.
STRETCH BEFORE AND
AFTER WORKING OUT
To maintain a good fitness level,
flexibility is important. You want to do
a good amount of stretching before
and after your routine in order to keep
from tearing your muscles. You will
be stronger and able to move around
more efficiently and not hurt yourself.
When you are stretching it is vital that you
don’t bounce your body. This can cause
unnecessary strain on your muscle. You do
not get anything from a bouncy stretch. As
a matter of fact, doing so is an invitation
to injury. Continuous stretches are much
more effective than bouncy ones.
TREAT INJURED MUSCLES WITH ICE
If you have hurt your muscles, it is
very important that you put cold on it. You
can get rid of swelling and redness this way.
You also need to make sure the injured area
is elevated to ensure good blood flow. Be
sure that ice is not directly placed on skin;
put it in a small towel to create a barrier
between the ice and your skin.
INCORPORATE FITNESS INTO
YOUR HOUSEWORK
If you’re on the ground cleaning up
something, think about doing some
lunges. Push-ups would also be good to
do. Everyday add a few small bursts of
fun, physical activity and you can quickly
get into shape.
CONSULT A DIETITIAN
Seek out the advice of a dietitian.
Although you may think it’s easy to get rid
of all the junk food in your home, are you
aware of how your workout routines will
impact the diet you require? A dietitian will
be able to establish how many extra calories
you need because you are more active,
as well as help you find healthier foods.
No matter who you are, you’ll soon see a
noticeable difference if you improve your
exercise routine with the tips you’ve just
learned. Learning about all the things you
can do to become more fit will allow you
to get more benefit from working out.
Remember what you’ve learned from this
article, and soon you’ll be in great shape.
are
multiple types
of depressions
people can
deal with.
Major, chronic and atypical
depression all afflict different
people. No matter what kind
you’re dealing with, you have
to make sure you’re working
hard to take it on. Check out
the tips below on how you can
fight your symptoms starting
Check out the tips here on how you can fight your depression symptoms
starting now. Help alleviate your depression by applying this knowledge.
CHANGE YOUR
THOUGHT PROCESSES
When you think about
yourself, re-frame it as about
someone else. When you
realize you wouldn’t say
that about another person,
why would you say it about
yourself? Try to use these
thoughts constructively
instead by turning them into
statements that suggest
solutions to the problem.
GET SOME SUNSHINE
The sun is a natural energy booster.
Go outside into the sunshine to help your
depression. Studies have shown that a lack
of sunlight can make depression worse.
3
GET ENOUGH SLEEP AND EXERCISE
Don’t dismiss the importance of
getting proper sleep, exercise and eating
a healthy diet. When you feel depressed,
it may help to go for a walk, run, swim
or bike ride. A more long-term reduction
of depression can result from exercising
daily, sleeping eight hours a night, and
staying away from most processed foods.
4
STAY AWAY FROM
DEPRESSION TRIGGERS
Clinical depression is different than
sadness, but quelling it often requires the
same approach. It is essential to avoid any
known depression triggers. If there is an
action, person or event, that continually
causes you to become depressed, do
everything you can to avoid it.
5
CONSIDER TAKING
ANTIDEPRESSANTS
Antidepressants are a broad group of
drugs that are used in the treatment
of depression. The purpose of
antidepressants is to restore the chemical
balance in your brain. However, these
medicines can only work to help you return
to normality if you combine them with
consistent exercise, therapy and effort.
6
TRY TO SEEK HELP
Don’t be afraid to seek help from
every avenue that might offer it. People who
have battled through depression on their
own may be able to help you the most by
sharing their knowledge and experiences.
You should have therapy frequently, even
if you’re taking medication regularly.
Speaking with a professional will allow you
121
to better understand what is going on. A
good counselor can do much more to help
you than well-meaning friends.
7
BOOST YOUR MOOD
Taking care of yourself, putting on
makeup or nice clothes can help to boost
your mood. Get dressed up and hit the
town. Not for an event or a social obligation,
but just to have fun and feel pretty. When
you do something to improve how you look
and to make yourself feel more attractive, it
will have amazing effects on your feelings,
and help overcome your depression.
8
LISTEN TO MUSIC
Although music can help in your
battle with depression, exercise caution
when choosing what to listen to. Refrain
from listening to music that triggers
sadness or depressing memories. That
music will only make you dwell on your
sad feelings and could exaggerate them.
Try dancing when you are feeling down.
Play some upbeat music that will get your
feet moving. What percentage of people
feel depressed when they’re dancing to
music that they love? Most everyone loves
music and can sway to the beat. Pick some
music that makes you happy and gets your
feet moving. This will surely cheer you up!
9
IDENTIFY YOUR LEVEL AND
TYPE OF DEPRESSION
It is important to identify the level and
type of depression you are experiencing.
There are many stages of depression that
can vary from a mild case to much more
severe. The mild forms of depression
affect millions who are not even aware
they’re depressed. A mild depression may
be described like feeling down or “the
blues”, whereas more severe depression
starts affecting your life. Severe clinical
depression causes a loss of interest in
formerly enjoyed activities. It can cause
dramatic changes in behavior. You should
make sure to be open about your feelings
to you therapist or doctor.
122 | May 2017
CULTIVATE A SOCIAL LIFE
When you’re depressed, it’s easy to
withdraw from life and refrain from social
activities, but in reality staying social is
an important factor of feeling better. If
you are surrounded by those who love
you, you’ll have your mood lifted, too. You
probably will not be as depressed if you
have a full calender.
LESSEN CAFFEINE INTAKE
If you are struggling with the
symptoms of depression, you should limit
your caffeine intake. Research shows
that caffeine worsens depression. If you
normally drink tea, coffee or soda, it’s time
to change to decaffeinated varieties.
SHAKE OFF NEGATIVE THOUGHTS
Try your best to remain positive.
Negative thoughts will bring you down.
Depressed people usually minimize any
good things in their life, while happy
people stay positive when they accept
sadness as normal and fix whatever they
can. This will improve the mood of those
you encounter as well.
SURROUND YOURSELF
WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE
Surround yourself with a group of positive
friends. You’ll learn that it’s hard to stay
depressed if the people around you are
positive all the time. A positive person can
put happy thoughts into your head and
cause you to not think negatively all the
time.
STAY AWAY FROM ALCOHOL
Alcohol should be off limits to
anyone who is suffering from depression.
Alcohol is categorized as a depressant, and
has been proven to heighten the effects of
depression. Remove any alcohol that you
keep in your home to get rid of temptation,
and visit an AA meeting in case you have a
potential alcohol problem.
DEAL WITH YOUR
PERSONAL PROBLEMS
If you are fighting the battle against
depression, try to fix any personal
problems you may be having. Whatever
the origins of your depression, if you don’t
deal with it, it will continue to affect you.
May 2017 |
You can’t fix all the problems that contribute to depression, so you must learn to deal
with the situations you have control over.
UNDERSTAND WHAT DEPRESSION IS
It is important to have an understanding of exactly what depression is.
Your depression can be linked to psychological and physical factors. Depression
generally causes an increase in stress and anxiety, and this in turn causes your
brain to produce a lower amount of serotonin. This makes you feel depressed.
A doctor may prescribe antidepressants as part of your treatment plan; many of
these medications work by stimulating your brain to produce more serotonin.
However, many methods of naturally increasing serotonin levels exist. Stimulants like
caffeine or alcohol should be avoided, and a healthy lifestyle should be encouraged.
Different types of depression are treated differently, but the emphasis here is on the
word “treated.” All forms of depression should be treated the right way, and unless
you want to get help, this illness will never go away. Help alleviate your depression by
applying what you’ve learned here.
