On Sunday, May 21, please bring UNDIES [NEW Boxer shorts] to Church. These will be collected and donated to Project Youth Outreach [YO] which serves homeless teens in Waikiki. Project YO is part of the Waikiki Clinic's services. By donating Undies to YO, we remember Mickey Selwyn, a beloved, long-time Member of our Church. Both girls and boys prefer boxer shorts. Our Church has supported Project YO for many years, with supplies, canned food, personal hygiene products, and UNDIES. Think for a minute about what life would be like without undies, or, even, without clean undies. We can help, support Project YO, and the homeless teens it serves, and remind ourselves that it takes a village, and we are part of that village, here in Honolulu. Many teens flee their homes in response to physical, psychological and/or sexual abuse. We can help. Bob Nakata recently had an Op-Ed piece in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser (04/11/2017). Entitled, “Budget decisions tough, but housing is a top priority,” Catherine and Bob reiterate that over 2,000 affordable housing units will be needed each year to achieve the 10 year goal of 22,500 units mandated by the legislature. As with many priorities, the limiting factor is money. Members of the Housing Now Coalition and FACE Hawaii, Catherine and Bob end the piece with a prophetic comment: “…it has taken decades of inaction to arrive at our dearth of housing. It may take decades of courageous action to solve the problem.” (L to R) Catherine Graham, Nan Kleiber, Nancy Young. Nancy was a prime mover for FACE (Faith Action for Community Equity). (Photo by C.
