It has three degrees:<br />

Firstly: <strong>Islam</strong> in its specific meaning.<br />

Secondly: <strong>Eemaan</strong> (faith) <strong>and</strong> includes <strong>the</strong> inward deeds.<br />

Thirdly: Ihsaan (Perfection <strong>of</strong> Worship)<br />

If such three degrees (<strong>Islam</strong>, <strong>Eemaan</strong> <strong>and</strong> Ihsaan) are mentioned toge<strong>the</strong>r in a text<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Book <strong>of</strong> Allaah The Almighty <strong>and</strong> Sunnah <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Messenger <strong>of</strong> Allaah, peace<br />

<strong>and</strong> blessings be upon him, <strong>the</strong>n everyone <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m has its specific meaning. <strong>Islam</strong><br />

will <strong>the</strong>n refer to <strong>the</strong> outward deeds; <strong>Eemaan</strong> will refer to <strong>the</strong> unseen matters while<br />

Ihsaan will refer to <strong>the</strong> highest degree <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> religion. However, if <strong>Islam</strong> is mentioned<br />

with its own (i.e. not accompanied by <strong>Eemaan</strong> or Ihsaan) in a text, <strong>the</strong>n it will include<br />

<strong>Eemaan</strong>, if <strong>Eemaan</strong> is mentioned with its own, <strong>the</strong>n it will include <strong>Islam</strong> <strong>and</strong> if Ihsaan<br />

is mentioned alone, <strong>the</strong>n it will include <strong>Islam</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Eemaan</strong>.<br />

Firstly: <strong>Islam</strong><br />

It refers to all <strong>the</strong> outward words <strong>and</strong> deeds that Allaah The Almighty or His Messenger,<br />

peace <strong>and</strong> blessings be upon him, enjoined us to do.<br />

It has five pillars:<br />

1. Testifying that <strong>the</strong>re is no God but Allaah, <strong>and</strong> that Muhammad is His<br />

Messenger.<br />

2. Performing prayers<br />

3. Paying <strong>the</strong> Zakaat<br />

4. Fasting <strong>the</strong> month <strong>of</strong> Ramadan.<br />

5. Pilgrimage to <strong>the</strong> Sacred House (Mecca).<br />

It was narrated that <strong>the</strong> Messenger <strong>of</strong> Allaah, peace <strong>and</strong> blessings be upon him, said:
