BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology combines great performance with impressive efficiency. Outstanding responsiveness,
linear power delivery, high-revving character and tremendous thrust are all hallmarks of the eight-cylinder petrol unit from the
EfficientDynamics engine family. Plentiful torque is on tap from just above idle right through to the upper reaches of engine
speed. The result: more than enough power in every situation and thrilling, high-rpm performance.

With 412 kW (560 hp) and up to 680 Nm of torque, the M TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine leaves no room for doubt

Aerodynamic design and
BMW EfficientLightweight construction.
The art of engineering.
Comprehensive and fully coordinated aerodynamics measures, particularly at higher speeds, optimise driving dynamics,
stability and control in M vehicles.
BMW EfficientLightweight construction is of the highest priority with M vehicles. This is because the lowest possible unladen
weight is the foundation for outstanding driving dynamics and exemplary efficiency. BMW M has applied unrelenting focus on
achieving this goal and, as a result, has seen continual improvement. The key questions that have always faced the engineers:
where does it make sense to save weight? And where not? The answer: intelligent lightweight construction.
As part of the BMW intelligent lightweight construction concept, the Carbon roof 1 made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic
(CFRP) helps to reduce the vehicle’s weight, shifting the car‘s centre of gravity lower. This leads to an increase in agility and
dynamics when taking a bend, accelerating and braking.
The carbon diffuser 1 creates aerodynamic downforce at the rear of the car at high speeds, thereby providing added traction.
The ultra-light, visible CFRP lends the rear a highly athletic appearance and is also a clear sign of the commitment of BMW M
to lightweight construction.

Chassis.
A solid foundation for superior driving dynamics.
Conventional rules don’t apply to the BMW M6 Gran Coupé and the BMW M6 Convertible: Developed in-house by BMW M
GmbH, they fully embody the M philosophy, offering a perfect synthesis of superb performance and everyday usability. The
sophisticated M high-performance chassis, re-designed from the ground up, are at the core of this compelling proposition.
M dynamic mode, a sub-function of Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), allows a certain degree of wheel slip, thereby noticeably
improving driving dynamics. While DSC works against understeer and oversteer, the M dynamic mode enables the full exploitation
of the car’s maximum longitudinal and lateral dynamic potential. However, access to the support offered by DSC is retained.
The Dynamic Damper Control makes it possible to adapt the damper characteristics to suit any given driving situation.
In the standard COMFORT mode the dampers provide greater cushioning, while the SPORT and SPORT+ modes feature
much tighter settings for greater precision and improved driving dynamics.
The Active M Differential optimises traction and driving stability when changing lanes or accelerating out of curves, when
taking corners at high speeds or on roads with uneven surfaces. Traction is optimised via an electronically controlled device
that reduces the difference in revolution speed between the rear wheels.
The intelligent networking of chassis components and control systems ensures maximum driving dynamics and agility as well
as exceptionally high precision and control. Experience fascinatingly authentic driving feel.
M Servotronic adjusts the power steering to suit the current speed and ensures a direct and precise steering response
even at high speeds. It also ensures supreme comfort by minimising the physical effort required for steering when parking,
manoeuvring or navigating narrow alleyways or twisting roads.
Shift gears without losing power, using the clutch or slowing down – thanks to the M double-clutch transmission with
Drivelogic. Gears can be changed automatically or manually using the gearshift paddles on the M leather steering wheel
or the gear selector in the centre console. The additional Launch Control function ensures optimal acceleration from a
standing start.
The optional M Carbon ceramic brake system 1 delivers braking power more directly. It is non-corrosive, very resistant
to abrasion, tolerates more heat and contributes to a lower vehicle weight, which has a positive impact on agility, dynamics
and acceleration. Matt Gold-coloured brake calipers with the M logo make this special technical equipment visible from
outside the car.

your destinations relaxed and on time. With
the BMW Connected app, mobility-relevant
information such as recommendations for
optimal departure times are available at any
time via smartphone or smartwatch and
can be seamlessly transmitted to the car.

The Automatic Start/Stop function
switches off the engine when the vehicle
comes to a temporary standstill (e.g. at
traffic lights or in a traffic jam) to further
reduce overall fuel consumption. When the
driver presses down on the clutch (manual
transmission) or takes their foot off the
brake (Steptronic transmission), the engine
automatically starts up again in a fraction of
a second.
PARKING ASSISTANT.
The Parking assistant option makes parallel
parking easier. The system works by
measuring potential spaces while driving
past them at a low speed. When a suitable
space has been found, the Parking
assistant takes over the steering, while the
driver is responsible for selecting the
correct gear, as well as pressing the
accelerator and brakes.
Speed Limit Info including No-overtaking
indicator 1,2 detects current speed limits and
no-overtaking zones and shows them to
the driver on the Info Display in the
instrument cluster or on the BMW
Head-Up Display 3 .
The Concierge Service 4 connects the
driver to a BMW call centre agent at the
push of a button. The agent can locate a
particular restaurant, the nearest cash
dispenser or an emergency pharmacy and
send the address details directly to the
BMW navigation system.
BMW M LAPTIMER.
The Apps equipment feature enables the
safe and convenient use of selected
smartphone apps in the car. This includes
apps developed by BMW, such as BMW
Connected, as well as apps from third-party
suppliers like Spotify, Napster, Deezer and
Audible. It brings the world of smartphone
apps into the vehicle.
Via the integrated infotainment system,
Online Entertainment 5 offers constant access
to more than 30 million music titles from our
partners Napster or Deezer. In addition, the
music is available wherever listening is
convenient – every other supported device
also has access to the music titles, even
outside of the car. Easily and conveniently.

In 2017, the BMW Group was once more listed in
the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. This makes BMW
Group the only company in the automotive industry to
be listed without interruption since the index was
established. The development of efficient vehicle
concepts and environmentally friendly production
processes, including recycling, is an integral part of our
philosophy. BMW EfficientDynamics and electric
vehicles have enabled us to cut CO 2
emissions from
our European new-vehicle fleet by more than 42%
since 1995. We have also reduced the amount of
resources used in production, such as water and
energy, by round 34% between 2006 and 2017, with a
reduction to 45% of previous levels aimed at for 2020.
In terms of other resources (such as volatile organic
compounds, process wastewater and waste) our 45%
target was met in 2014, and we will continue to work
on further improvement. Production at our engine plant
in Steyr has been waste-water free since 2007. And of
course, at the end of its service life, every one of our
vehicles can be easily and economically recycled. To
