“Softshell” is a class of knit or woven materials, made from polyester
and nylon, used to make technical outdoor clothing that essentially
bridges the gap between waterproof hardshell jackets & highly
breathable fleece jackets.
Softshells are more breathable (yet less water and wind resistant), more flexible, and
generally more durable than hardshell materials, and more protective than fleece.
The softshell offers four-way stretch for extreme comfort and freedom of
movement.
Softshell jackets are good in the cold, in the wind and when there’s chance of light
drizzle. They are far more comfortable than a waterproof hard shell, which is often
more stiff and restricts movement.
Softshell jackets don’t pill or generate lint and pet-hair-attracting static, providing
significant advantages over fleece. They also do not have a fabric construction which
would cause them to 'rustle'.
Build A jacket uses the best available Softshell material @ 295g/m2, providing you
with a durable, fashionable and extremely wind and water resistant jacket.
Colours currently available are Black, Navy, Charcoal and Red. Softshell jackets can
be personalized with logos and names by printing and/or embroidery.
Softshells are breathable, hard-wearing, water-resistant, wind-resistant pieces of
clothing that offer wearers freedom of movement and insulation in dynamic
weather conditions.
