MICHELIN STAR
The Box Tree is delighted to have retained its Michelin Star for the
fifth year.
45TH BIRTHDAY OF THE BOX TREE
As the Box Tree entered its 45th year the restaurant took a trip down
memory lane. After discussions with one of the original owners
Malcolm Ried, longstanding loyal customers and old members of staff,
Simon wrote a special menu featuring the best loved dishes from the
Box Tree’s early days. The menu was run for a week and included old
favourites such as crepe alfredo and roast haunch of venison.
YOUNG WAITER OF THE YEAR
This year the prestigious competition to find young waiter of the year
is celebrating its 25th Anniversary and the Box Tree was very proud
to have 2 winners of the accolade under its roof for a period of
time. The general manager of the Box Tree, Andrew, won the award
in 1994 and with his help and advice William Bonnfield won 2008’s
competition and has now moved to London to develop his career in
other areas.
RACE THE TRAIN
General Manager Andrew and Sous Chef, Simon Davis, took part in
the annual event where by entrants set off from Keighley train station
at the same time as the first diesel train and cycle up the valley and
attempt to beat the train to Oxenhope train station. Both Andrew
and Simon beat the train completing the 4.8 mile journey in less than
the 23 minutes and 9 seconds it took the train. In the overall race
Andrew came 9th and Simon came 12th. The race raised money for
Sue Ryder Care’s Manorlands Hospice, in Oxenhope.
THE BRONTE BIG K FOR SUE RYDER CARE, MANORLANDS
Andrew and Simon are already in training for their next competition,
the Bronte Big K Mountain bike challenge and they will be joined by
Simon Gueller. The race is raising money for the Sue Ryder Care and
until the end of September £1 will be added to the bill of each table
that visits the Box Tree to be donated to the worthy cause. If you
