"For someone of..."

Well, as summer entered July, I thought that I should visit my
doctor, for my usual annual check-up!
“You’re fighting fit – for a woman of your age,” he said reassuringly.
‘I what?’ I thought, ‘a woman of my age! When did that happen? A
woman of my age, what age is that?. Well!’ I suppose I didn’t mind
too much as he was a very nice doctor and quite good looking in a
doctor kind of way!
Next day I had an appointment to see the nurse regarding my
weight, I have been on a diet for the last three months and to be
honest I do feel better for it, especially now I can squeeze into my
summer clothes.
“Let’s see how much you have lost now, shall we? Oh yes, ten
pounds. Well, that’s good for. . . someone of your age. It gets much
harder as you get older!” The kindly nurse said.
There it was again! When did I stop being normal to becoming
someone of your age? No one told me! No one said at this birthday
you become, A ‘someone of your age.’ When is this mysterious time?
I went to the dentist and had a filling and was happy to hear,
“Your teeth are good” ‘Great’ I thought, until he continued.
“For someone of your age” ……. ‘No, not again!’
Last night, having had a week of medical appointments and being
made to feel a lot older than I should, I went to the local pub with a
few girlfriends (funny that title never changes to old lady friends, does

We got chatting to a group of unattached men. One of them singled
me out, which I was rather pleased about as I had been attracted to
him from the start. He said his name was Robert, he was a solicitor
and worked in London.
He was fifty five, and very attractive. I told him that he was a good
few years younger than me,
“You don’t look it. What’s a couple of years, anyway” he replied. He
told me that he had been divorce for three years but his work took
up much of his time so didn’t get the chance to have many social
evenings.
As the night came to an end, he asked me back to his for coffee,
then, I did something most out of character. As one thing lead to
another . . . . .(well you know!) This morning I woke up in his bed.
“Good morning” I shyly offered, wanting to die with embarrassment.
“Good morning darling,” he said. “Last night was amazing and for
someone. . .” ‘No, please don’t say it I couldn’t bear it, not from you,’ I
silently pleaded.
“. . as lovely as you, wanting someone like me. I’m so glad that I
found you” he said as he kissed me good morning!
