Stubz and Stiltz lived on the
streets scrounging for food.
Luckily, a nice family found them
and gave them a loving home.
One day, the two pals were left alone and
they had the whole house to themselves.

“Race you to the bedroom,” shouted Stiltz.
“I can’t run,” said Stubz. “I galumph along like any old dog.”

Stiltz sprang for the bed and yipped, “Wheeeee!
It’s like bouncing on a big boingy marshmallow!”
“Whoopee! Taller
than an apple tree!”
“Flying like a
bumble bee.”
“So high up, betcha
can’t see me!”
Whimper whimper
whine whine
“Be careful buddy!” gasped Stubz.

“Pillow Fight!”
“Stiltz! You knocked the pillows
off the bed,” said Stubz.

“Oh no, we’re in deep
trouble!” groaned Stubz.
“Ah baloney! We’ll just hide our
mess in the trash,” said Stiltz.

“Not if you give me a boost,” said Stiltz.
Ta Da!
OOof!
Stubz and Stiltz trotted to the kitchen trash bin. “The bin
is too tall, we’ll never make it up there,” whined Stubz.

But Stubz’s nose began to tingle and
itch. And just as Stiltz opened the lid . . .

“Pardon me, do you have a tissue?”
“We’ll have to eat our way
out of this mess,” said Stiltz.
“Now you’re talking!” nodded Stubz.

Chomp!
slurp
Munch
Stubz chowed on pizza crusts, bits of
macaroni, and ten teeny-weeny beans.
Stiltz slurped on tomato soup, yogurt,
and a chomp’s worth of cheesy broccoli.

Stubz’s tummy ached, “We ate all the food, but none of the trash!”
“Don’t worry ol’ pal. I have an idea!”

Stiltz bolted out the doggy door and rushed back with a garden hose.
The two pooches sprayed and splattered. First the floor, then the
walls, then the floor again. They even got the ceiling dripping wet!
“Gang way! Wet stuff coming through!
Gang way or you’ll get wet too.”
It was so much fun they didn’t stop until . . .

PffffffTt!
“Surf’s up, catch a wave dude!”
“But I only doggy paddle!”
After tumbling out the kitchen, the two dogs were
sopping wet and felt like bloated sponges. So they
did what any two sopping wet pooches would do.

“The whole house is flooded,” whimpered Stubz.
“Fret not buddy,” said Stiltz. “I’ve got just the thing.”

The mutts mopped and scrubbed their sponges for the longest
time. They soaked up water and wrung it out again and again.
Stubz and Stiltz cleaned until they couldn’t move a muscle.
“Time to mop!” shouted Stiltz. “Grab a pail and let’s get crackin’.”
“Whew! Am I dog tired.”
“Maybe we cleaned so well
our family won’t notice.”

“Or maybe,” grumbled Stubz, “we’re just a
couple of mutts who should have known better.”
“Race you to the mud puddle!”
Though they tried hard to fix their mess, Stubz and Stiltz
were sent to the backyard while their family finished cleaning.
Uh oh.

These dirty dogs have had enough fun for one afternoon! Their family
promised Stubz and Stiltz a day at the park. But for now... bath time!

Stubz and Stiltz are back!
Stubz and Stiltz are based on two real life rescue mutts:
Nugget, a Basset Hound and Labrador mix, and Curly, a
long-legged Cockapoo. Follow their adventures they are
left home alone for the first time since being adopted
