E D I T O R ' S N O T E Listen to your elder's advice. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong... Two young sons, a young wife and a family of several unmarried sisters and an aged mother - this may sound more distressing than a dozen EMIs for a government employee living in the 60s when neither gold nor real estate cost anything and only Doctors had decent earnings. I have but seen this hugely talented man slog his life out to ensure that the crowd of people who depended on his meagre earnings had a decent living. There were no electricity and hence no fans and the summer heat would seep into the dark bedroom where a hand would unwaveringly wave the hand fan for the two sleeping children as they dreamt of a better life. One minute when the hand took some rest, the two little rowdies would wake up and again the fan and the hand would go back to work. Years later, he remains the strength of the household. The hands can rest now but the spirit of his love remains the same for his family. ISSUE 09 | JULY 2017 BEYOND BORDERS He is out there not just in my home, but in the homes of many out there. He may not keep tab of the money he saved and spent for others or the wants he never expressed, but he is the one reason we all sleep today, and why our children sleep in controlled environment. Here I am, saluting the father of all fathers and wishing every elderly person in our life, peace, light and lots of love. Sujil Chandra Bose
