Wood & Humidity<br />

The photos on the left are examples<br />

of what can happen to a table with<br />

humidity changes. This is not a<br />

defect, it is the result of natural<br />

movement in wood. Please see page<br />

20 for more information regarding<br />

wood movement. The photos on the<br />

bottom are of plank tops that have<br />

moved with humidity changes. The<br />

breadboards do not expand the same<br />

way as the main panel because of the<br />

opposite grain directions, therefore<br />

creating an offset between the panel<br />

and the breadboards.<br />

The photo above is the result of too low humidity, creating a gap at the ends of the joints. If the humidity is too high, the table will<br />

gap at the center of the joints.<br />
