and uniqueness is evident in each piece of furniture we craft. It is also
wood’s natural tendency to adapt to climatic and seasonal changes as
found in your home. Most hardwoods have an open-grain character and
even after finishing with today’s state-of-the-art finishes, wood will
expand and contract as the woodgrain adjusts to fluctuations in humidity
levels. These seasonal effects may be evidenced by joints or grain that
may open and close slightly over time, this occurrence is natural and to
be expected. To properly care for your solid wood furniture, it is best to
maintain a constant relative humidity in your home. A humidity level in
the range of 30-45% is desired to properly maintain wood furniture. It is
advisable to avoid placing furniture in an area where the sun will shine
directly on it. Also, it is wise to keep furniture away from direct sources
of heating and cooling. Note that ultraviolet light from the sun and
florescent fixtures can cause chemical changes in wood and/or finish.
