Our students are multi-talented. Firstly, our Sports Scholarship
holder, Arisa Tanthathoedtham (Fah) from Year 9, has
done not only the school but also Thailand proud by winning
numerous awards in regional and international rhythmic
gymnastics competitions. She won 3 Gold and 1 Bronze
medal for Thailand at the 14th Singapore Open Gymnastics
Championships - Rhythmic Gymnastics in June 2017; 2 Gold,
1 Silver and 2 Bronze at Thailand National Junior Championship
(Chumporn Ranong Games); 4 Silver at Total Gym 6th International
Gymnastics Tournament 2017 in Kuala Lumpur; 1
Gold and 3 Silver at the 16th Oomsin’s Rhythmic Gymnastics
Interclub Competition 2017 in Malaysia. Shirley Losmithgul
from Year 12 was selected by the US Government to represent
Thailand at the Southeast Asia Youth Leadership Programme
(SEAYLP) held at Illinois, USA, from 4th to 28th April
2017 while three teams from SISB Debate Society who had
done well in the largest ever Bangkok regional round of the
World Scholar’s Cup, which we co-host with NIST International
School, competed in the next round at Hanoi in June.
Tintin (P6 Love), Jai-Jai (P5 Peace) and Patrick (P5 Love) from
our Primary School were presented Distinction Awards in
Poland’s “Another Look Art Competition 2016” while Tada
Tangsunawan (P3 Faith) and Kita Tangsunawan (P1 Peace)
won the championship trophy for the under 10 category at
the Thailand Junior Ice Hockey League during Dec 2016 to
Mar 2017 season.
We appreciate the concerted effort of the PST, led by Khun
Pornprapa Lertratkosum, and parents who have volunteered
energy and time planning activities for the parents and the
school such as seminars and the extravagant Family Fun
Fair#2, a memorable event for the whole SISB community.
A big thank you to all of them and we look forward to their
continued partnership in the education of their children, our
students.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and
students in organizing the fun-filled “Star-gazing” Open
Day on 25th February this year. Everyone came together to
create a wonderful day of fun and learning. My thanks go to
students, staff and janitors for keeping our campus clean
in particularly the toilets. This led us to win the Best Toilet
Competition organised by Bangkok Municipality in June this
year.
We have come to the end of yet another exciting academic
year. I hope this yearbook serves as a memory of events that
have played a part in your school life at SISB. I encourage you
to continue your growth here at SISB in the Spirit of Excellence!
In the 2016 iPSLE, our top student, Kittima Li, was awarded
the Certificate of Distinction. Ten other students were
awarded Certificates of Outstanding Performance in the
various subjects. In the 2016 IGCSE, Carol Liu Zi Yi and Punyathorn
Jeungsmarn (Arm) were awarded the 2016 Outstanding
Cambridge Learner Awards, Thailand. Carol was
awarded the High Achievement Award in IGCSE Chinese as
a First Language while Arm in both AS level Geography and
English Language.
This academic year also saw the launch of SISB Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR)-English Language Project in collaboration
with Wat Praram 9 and Praram 9 Kanchanapisek
School on 1 Oct 2016. The SISB CSR-EL Project is an 18-week
programme which provides English lessons to primary students
from Praram 9 Kanchanapisek School helping them
develop literacy skills in reading, speaking and comprehension.
The project ended on 17th June 2017 with a Graduation
Ceremony for the students. On behalf of SISB, I thank the
parent volunteers, student volunteers, teachers volunteers
and staff who contributed to the success of this programme.
We look forward to more who will be volunteering their time
in CSR-EL Project 2 in the new academic year.
This year we have also successfully applied for membership
in East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS). Our
teachers will now have opportunities to develop professionally
by attending courses and conferences organised by the
organisation. There will be opportunities to network with
teachers from other international schools in the region.
