Our columnist Chris Evans is looking to<br />

make some hard decisions – he’s going<br />

to cull his collection. And he’s not even<br />

being pressured to do it. Yeah, first you<br />

need to understand the context…<br />

ll through my early motorcycle years I was<br />

frustrated by the lack of a workshop and the<br />

corresponding lack of space to store all the<br />

bikes I wanted to own – even though I couldn’t<br />

actually afford to buy them. My parents drove me to<br />

despair by insisting on using the garage for their car<br />

when it was perfectly obvious that this was just a<br />

waste of valuable spanner space. In their defence, this<br />

was at a time when cars really did need to be garaged<br />

if they weren’t to deteriorate into a pile of rust.<br />

When I moved to Paris it was even worse and I was<br />

reduced to oil changes in the street, before becoming<br />

sufficiently wealthy to share a lock up with equally<br />

impoverished enthusiasts in godforsaken suburbs<br />

that back in the UK you only hear about when the<br />

disgruntled youth decide to set the whole lot ablaze.<br />
