TIMBAVATI GAME RESERVE: DAYS 8-10
Authentic luxury: From Echo Caves,
it is around a 75-minutes to Timbavati.
Created by conservation-minded landowners in
1956, this private reserve spans 53,000 hectares of
pristine bushveld. It shares a fenceless
border with Kruger Park to allow animals to
migrate freely and forms part of the Greater
Kruger National Park.
The reserve has a choice of private lodges and
has abundant game including all the sought-after
predators, but is best known for its rare white
lions, first seen in the 1970s.
Clients can fly from Hoedspruit Airport, half
an hour away from the reserve. For the return
journey, they could drive to Johannesburg,
480km and a five-hour journey from Timbavati.
