8 DAYS KENYA SOUTH
Day 01: NAIROBI / MAASAI MARA
Pick up upon arrival and drive to Maasai Mara Game Reserve, so named to mean the “spotted plains” in Maa
language. This is home to the greatest concentration of large mammals and is widely recognized as Africa’s ultimate
wildlife reserve. The park is the northern extension to the vast Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, famous for its annual
migration of wildebeest. Transfer to the lodge with a game driver en route and after check-in enjoy hot lunch. Later in
the evening enjoy a game viewing drive in this spectacular place of breathtaking sceneries, never-ending plains and
the most abundant variety of wildlife remaining anywhere in the world. The landscape is made up of rolling
savannahs dotted with patchy shrubs and bush thickets. All meals and overnight at Mara Leisure Camp (Fullboard)
Day 02: MAASAI MARA
During your stay, you have the opportunity to explore this great reserve in depth. You may see elephant, giraffe,
prides of lion, and thousands of impala, topi, grants and Thomson's gazelle. Birds are prolific including immigrants,
450 bird species have been recorded among them 57 birds of prey. The Mara is the scene of annual migration of
millions of wildebeest up from the Serengeti plains in search of water and grasses. All meals and overnight at Mara
Leisure Camp (Fullboard).
Day 03: MAASAI MARA / LAKE NAIVASHA
After breakfast and check-out, drive to Lake Naivasha which is the first of the Rift Valley Lakes and is set at the foot of
Mount Longonot, on the north side. It was on Lake Naivasha that East Africa’s first air-passengers used to land in the
flying boats of Imperial Airways. After lunch at the camp take an afternoon boat ride for a chance to identify the
many different birds in the area. Dinner and overnight at Naivasha Sopa Lodge (Fullboard)
Day 04: LAKE NAIVASHA / AMBOSELI
After breakfast and check-out, drive via Nairobi with picnic lunches to Amboseli National Park. The Park is famous for
its big game and scenic beauty with the landscape dominated by Mt. Kilimanjaro. It offers an interesting contrast with
its dry and dusty appearance, which can be attributed to the volcanic ash that came out of Mt Kilimanjaro when it last
erupted. In spite of the appearance, there is a continuous supply of water that gets filtered through volcanic rocks
from Kilimanjaro's melted snow. These streams flow underground, creating lush green areas, and converge at two
clear water springs in the park. Dinner and overnight at Kibo Safari Camp (Fullboard)
Day 05: AMBOSELI
Spend a further day in the park on morning and afternoon game viewing drives. Wildlife here includes the zebra,
wildebeest, giraffe, impala, caracal and serval cat, lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo among others. There are also over
400 species of birds, including the bee-eater, kingfisher, African fish eagle, martial eagle and pygmy falcon. Visitors
mainly come to watch the huge herds of elephants. The bull elephants have some of the largest tusks in all of Kenya.
All meals and overnight at Kibo Safari Camp (Fullboard).
Day 06: AMBOSELI / TSAVO WEST
Depart for the drive via Chyulu Hills to the second largest park – Tsavo West, famed for the notorious “Man Eaters of
Tsavo”. The man eating lions preyed on the railway linesmen building the great Uganda Railway. Later you will go for
an evening game viewing drive. The park offers remarkable views with a variety of habitats ranging from mountains,
river forest, lakes and wooded grassland. It is also an excellent park for visitors who enjoy walking, offering a number
of nature trails and the opportunity to explore the Chaimu volcanic Lava. If time allows enjoy time within the Rhino
sanctuary for the opportunity to see the endangered Rhinocerous. All Meals and overnight at Voi Wildlife Lodge (Fullboard)
Day 07: TSAVO EAST
After a sumptuous breakfast, depart for the nearby Tsavo East National Park. Arrive for lunch followed by an early
evening game drive to return back to lodge/camp after sunset. Tsavos’s abundant wildlife will always excite you and
the sight of dust-red elephant wallowing, rolling and spraying each other with the midnight blue waters of palmshaded
Galana River is one of the most evocative images in Africa. This along with the 300 kilometer long Yatta
Plateau, the longest lava flow in the world, makes for an adventure unlike any other in the Tsavo East. The park forms
the largest protected area in Kenya. All Meals and overnight at Voi Wildlife Lodge (Fullboard)
