puMpKInS Get pInK’d Out<br />
If yOu’re in the mood for fall festivities and also want to take<br />
part in helping fight cancer, Augusta University’s Pink Pumpkin<br />
Party is where you want to be Saturday, Sept. 30.<br />
The third annual event is for families and the community, and it<br />
calls attention to breast cancer, raises funds for free mammograms<br />
for women in need, and honors breast cancer survivors.<br />
It will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday on the Augusta<br />
University Health Sciences Campus at the J. Harold Harrison,<br />
M.D., Education Commons building. Adults and children are<br />
invited to decorate pumpkins, wear their favorite pink outfits<br />
and participate in the pumpkin-decorating and best-dressed<br />
contests. There also will be music, dancing, children’s activities<br />
and more.<br />
Pre-registration is over, but you’re still welcome to attend, as<br />
additional pink pumpkins will be available for on-site registration.<br />
$10 includes a pumpkin and all decorations, and mini pumpkins<br />
are available for a donation. Cancer patients and survivors can<br />
participate for free.<br />

The Burger Battle is back, and this year,<br />
there are six competitors. The fundraiser<br />
benefits the Boys & Girls Club of the CSRA.<br />
Area restaurants will prepare and serve their<br />
burgers, and Augusta band Funk You will<br />
provide live music for the night. It’s from 6-8<br />
p.m. Thursday at E.W. Hagler Boys & Girls<br />
Club. Tickets are $50 for adults and free<br />

Saturday, Sept. 30<br />
Attention, flea market lovers! The Fort<br />
Gordon flea market is here, as part of the<br />
multi-day Fort Gordon Fall Festival. Dozens<br />
of vendors will be there, with all kinds of<br />
products. The flea market will take place<br />
from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Fort Gordon’s<br />
Barton Field. The Fall Festival runs from<br />
Sept. 28-Oct. 1, with attractions such as a<br />
carnival every day and more. Check out the<br />

The tough women of Soul City Sirens — an<br />
Augusta roller derby team — will be duking<br />
it out against the Athens and Chattanooga<br />
women this Sunday in Augusta! First whistle<br />
is at 11 a.m., and spectators are invited to bring<br />
a camping chair. The battle takes place at Red<br />
Wing Rollerway. Admission is $10 and $3 for<br />

For those who weren’t old enough to have<br />
seen Elvis perform (or would like to see “him”<br />
again), you won’t want to miss “A Tribute<br />
to the King,” with Travis LeDoyt on stage<br />
as Elvis. LeDoyt has an extensive musical<br />
background, and he’s considered one of<br />
America’s most convincing Elvis tribute acts.<br />
He’ll be at Jabez S. Hardin Performing Arts<br />
Center at 7:30 p.m. Thursday; tickets are $36.<br />
