Festival Guide 2017

The objective of the Barbados Visual Media Festival is to celebrate the work of local, regional and international independent film makers while being a catalyst for the development of the Barbadian visual media industry. The Festival not only features the screening of local, regional and international content but it also includes a 48 Hour Film Challenge, Industry Workshops as well as the Industry Awards for Films in Barbados (ViMAs). This festival is extremely important as it gives local filmmakers a platform to have their films shown, it gives them feedback, it helps them to improve, it facilitates networking with other players in the industry which could potentially birth future projects and it gives them the tools to get their content out to the world.

“Developing the Industry One Celebration at a Time”
We are celebrating our 4 th annual festival and we are EXCITED with the line-up of fantastic films and workshops! Every year we
have grown and changed a bit, all the while never losing sight of our mission: Presenting amazing short and feature length films
from around the world along with exciting and impactful local films that showcase what Barbadian filmmakers can do!
This year we are happy to present an eclectic line up of short and feature films lead by the premiere of the documentary “Hall”: a
film that chronicles the criminal life of Barbadian fugitive Winston Hall.
In addition to the screenings which will occur at the FLOW Olympus Theatres, we have our Industry Workshops, Filmmakers
Lounge at AEON Bar & Grill and the Barbados Visual Media Awards (VIMAS) which will bring the festival to a close.
This festival would not be possible without the help of our generous sponsors, committed committee and volunteers. Take note of
our sponsors in the festival guide and on the “big screens” in the theatres. When you see them or frequent their businesses,
please tell them that you appreciate their support of the Barbados Visual Media Festival.
Have a wonderful festival experience and THANK YOU for your support.
