GURUKUL SCHOL<strong>AR</strong>S - BUDDING ENGINEERS<br />

Sisters Mansa & Monica joined Literacy India through<br />

Pathshala and went on to win the Gurukul<br />

Scholarship. They completed high school at St.<br />

Soldiers School & Rotary Public School. They were<br />

keen to become engineers, an impossible dream for<br />

their father, a vegetable seller by day and security<br />

guard by night and mother, a domestic help. Literacy<br />

India stepped in. We organized for the sisters to be<br />

mentored by Prabhat Agarwal, Literacy India board<br />

member & IITian under the Aravalli Scholar<br />

Programme. After qualifying for the AIEEE<br />

examination, Mansa completed her engineering from<br />

JK institute of Technology, Allahabad and landed a<br />

job with Pemari Technology as a developer, earning<br />

five- figure salary. Monica is completing her<br />

engineering from the Kanpur Institute of Technology.<br />

Aditya, a brilliant student at<br />

children with above average<br />

IQ. He loves studying history<br />

& historical characters in his<br />

spare >me and is not swayed<br />

by the flee>ng entertainment<br />

of social media & the<br />

internet. A local celebrity, his<br />

favorite historical figure is<br />

Maharana Pratap who he<br />

admires for his valour and<br />

ability to protect his people.<br />

Moving from a slum in UFar<br />

Pradesh, his father makes a<br />

living working in a sim card<br />

manufacturing unit.<br />
