Needs: Support for facilities Crime Victims Council of the Lehigh Valley, Inc. provides nonjudgmental support and services to victims of all violence, their families and significant others throughout Northampton and Lehigh Counties. It offers free and confidential services to people directly affected by crime. Needs: Support for program services Easterseals Eastern Pennsylvania provides a wide range of services to support people with developmental delays, disabilities and other special needs – and their families – in the Lehigh Valley, Berks County and the Poconos. Needs: Support for program activities The Nurture Nature Center (NNC) is dedicated to blending science, art and dialogue programs to get the community talking and thinking critically about the local environment. NNC hosts a variety of different types of programs including science presentations, film screenings, community discussions and art shows about timely and important environmental issues of interest. This will make the program accessible at farmers’ markets, farm stands, mobile markets, as well as, expand incentives to corner stores. This will help to increase local fruit and vegetable consumption among lowincome community members. The Center’s hands-on exhibits, programs, and partnership efforts present the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to kids informally, playfully, and in ways that relate to their popular interests. In terms of public service, the Center offers a Science Inquiry Fund that provides need and interest based scholarships to students for Center School Field Trips, Outreach Programs, Summer Camps, and other experiences. The Center also hosts Lehigh Valley FAST—or Festival of Art, Science, and Technology, which is a free carnival-style celebration produced every two years. The festival strives to engage people from all socioeconomic backgrounds inspiring and entertaining experiences, while raising awareness about careers in the STEM fields of science. The coalition works in advocacy and awareness, community resource communications, access to food and volunteer networking. It’s comprised of citizens and business leaders committed to enhancing Allentown’s park facilities, services and recreation programs.
