You used to have only a choice between being at home and being in ‘the home.’ Not anymore. Now you have a continuum of care and housing options, but there’s also more personalization to you or your loved ones specific needs and wants. And there’s been a shift from a purely clinical focus to one of engagement and care for the multidimensional needs of older adults such as physical, social, spiritual and emotional wellbeing. Services Home Health Care This type of care assists older adults in living independently at home. It is often used when recovering from an illness or injury to help you regain your independence and become as self-sufficient as possible. Adult Day Care This type of care relieves the person caring for an older adult at home so the caregiver can go to work or simply have a break. Adult Day Care offers a safe environment and typically provides care during normal business hours, five days a week. Home Health care may include: • Personal care and grooming • Household chores and cooking • Transportation • Occupational, physical and/or speech therapy Some centers focus on social interaction, some also provide medical care and others are dedicated to memory care.
