Home Health Care<br />
This type of care assists older adults in living<br />
independently at home. It is often used when<br />
recovering from an illness or injury to help you<br />
regain your independence and become as<br />
self-sufficient as possible.<br />
Adult Day Care<br />
This type of care relieves the person caring for an<br />
older adult at home so the caregiver can go to work<br />
or simply have a break. Adult Day Care offers a safe<br />
environment and typically provides care during<br />
normal business hours, five days a week.<br />
Home Health care may include:<br />
• Personal care and grooming<br />
• Household chores and cooking<br />
• Transportation<br />
• Occupational, physical and/or<br />
speech therapy<br />
Some centers focus on social interaction, some also<br />
provide medical care and others are dedicated to<br />
memory care. It’s also common for an Adult Day<br />
Care to be affiliated with a home care agency, skilled<br />
nursing community or other type of medical center or<br />
senior service provider.<br />
Adult Day Care services may include:<br />
• Preparation of meals and snacks<br />
• Health monitoring and assistance with<br />
taking medication<br />
• Exercise and educational programs<br />
• Social activities<br />
• Physical, occupational and<br />
speech therapy<br />
• Transportation services<br />
<strong>The</strong> staff often includes a social worker, activity<br />
director and certified nursing aide (CNA) as<br />
well as volunteers.<br />
