Be Proud
Be proud. Yes, I’m very proud. Lovely shoots from Josi, Miko, Natasha,
Olga and Steph. But also top work from the Stylists, Make-Up Artists
and Hairstylists. Special attention in this edition goes out to DAUVIA,
a young Dutch designer. With her designs she brings the African warmth
to Europe. The colors are so lovely.
But I’m also very proud that we have new Dutch talent Anouk Vos on the cover
of our magazine. Beautifully photographed by Josi Nihot and her team.
In I G O N E 7 I was blessed that I already got to do a “New Face” shoot with
Anouk. She is so impressive! In this edition there is also a “New Face” shoot.
This time with model Lotje Tempelman, scouted by Linda Models, but also very,
very impressive.
Last but not least, photographer Olga Weber shows us with her editorial that
“simplicity” doesn’t have to be boring at all, it can be so awesome! She lets us
see the strength of simplicity. Love it!
Senz° lanceert
eerste tassencollectie
nieuwe tassencollectie in verschillende modellen, kleuren

Persbericht
I g o n e
Special features:
EMERGING
FASHION DESIGNER
w w w . j - a n t . c o m
Jessica António is a native Portuguese
fashion designer based in the Netherlands.
The young talent created her own fashion
label J-ANT. this year and strives for a
craftsmanship revival in today’s fashion
industry by creating exclusive jackets and
qualitative garments. The brand is supportive
of sustainability in various ways,
supporting ethical production, recycling
and slow production are just a few of them.
Along the years, Jessica had the opportunity to discover and learn about fashion and the consequences
it has on environment and our planet, which influenced her dedication for conscious behavior.
The designer recently graduated from HKU University of the Arts Utrecht with a large collection
depicting her interest for craftsmanship and handmade quality. Her collection AMID CULTURES
derived from a concept of personal means that differentiates individualistic vs. collectivist cultures,
whereas worn duvets and have been re-designed into garments as a metaphor for warmth and intimacy.
Although, Jessica’s ability to recreate and experiment with textiles goes beyond the recycling
of duvets. Known for the use of smock elements, the designer uses mostly textile leftovers to create
these organic textures.

J-ANT. is the beginning of a new revolution. The brand offers two main lines, both focusing
on the quality of the garment and its manufacturing processes.
Jessica is extremely creative, however due to her previous education she’s attained a rather
entrepreneurial attitude to life. Therefore, J-ANT. offers an exclusive selection of highly
detailed handmade jackets, these are one of a kind and it reflects on its price. However,
in order to gain a broader audience J-ANT. also manufactures qualitative casual wear in
selected factories in her home country, Portugal. The goal is to provide our consumer with
affordable clothing that is high on quality and ethically produced. J-ANT. chooses to manufacture
in Portugal in order to keep production transparent, have a close bond with the
factory workers and support the economy of its origins.
Undefined is my definition
Parfois’ campaign which makes us stop and
think about the labels we apply throughout
our lives.
Persbericht
I g o n e
From the incessant search and construction
of the Parfois woman and that which defines
her comes the brand’s SS18 campaign.
A modern vision of the world and of what it
means to be a woman, this campaign seeks
to break boundaries and follow the concept
of freedom and strength in the face of preconceived
ideas, pre-designed spaces and
generalisations which limit us.
Who hasn’t caught themselves applying
labels to people, things or situations? Raise
your hand! The slogan for Parfois’ summer
campaign is “Undefined is my definition”,
which makes us stop and think - after all,
every one of us is many things at the same
time. Last winter Parfois focused on expressing
“me”, and this season it seeks to break stereotypes
and traditions, through Rodrigo Carmuega’s
photographic lens, with Porto de
Leixões as its backdrop.
Brit Vandervoort, the campaign’s leading
model, represents the woman who seeks
to differentiate herself as a unique being
- through de-contextualisation and breaking
boundaries (be them social, moral, stylistic or
preconceptions) which in the past determined
where, when and how one should be as
a woman. These days, she turns up at weddings
in bright red, sunbathes on her balcony and
wears flowers in her hair. She gives a new
meaning to everyday objects and situations
and puts them to a different use based on
what makes sense to her in her daily life,
without thinking about what others might say.
This woman creates a new, more peculiar,
and unique world around her, bringing together
weird and wonderful elements: a mixture of
past and present, art and nature, sport and
sophistication.
This experimental nature which seeks new paths
is also present in Parfois’ SS18 collection,
which brings us unexpected combinations,
mixing styles which represent an eclectic
vision of the world and consequently, of
fashion.
Styles which are worlds apart, like sporty and
ethnic, are brought together and bring life to
items which we’ll want to wear all season.
Tassels and ethnic motifs on backpacks and
purses bring a cool side to minimal and simple
outfits. Natural tones are fused with bold
colours for tropical inspired prints. Practical
accessories which are easy to use- like purses,
backpacks and bomber jackets, alongside
high heels, mules and kitten heels; items in
minimal lines and cool and light fabrics that
contrast with denim jackets and fanny packs.
The idea is for each one of us to feel free to
create and experiment with different styles
and choose what we like best for each occasion.
And this freedom arises from our ability to
say no to the rules, creating our own unique
self in the world, giving us the courage to
be who we are and to dress in our own way
every day. The most unexpected combinations
can bring about the coolest and most inventive
outfits. This is where each one of us has the
space to be in the world, in our own unique
way.
The Parfois Spring/Summer ‘18 collection
is as of now available online and in stores.
01. Why did you become a fashion model?
I became a model because I didn’t want to live a life with regrets and with a lot of “what if’s’’.
I saw an opportunity, and I took it. Whether I succeed or not, it doesn’t matter because I already
won for just “trying’’ - which is something that most people don’t even do.
I g o n e
02. What education/training(s) did you do?
I studied International Business and Management, but I won a beauty pageant on
the 19 th of November 2017 where I followed catwalk courses and etiquette coaching.
03. What is your favourite style?
My favourite style is Minimalistic. Think of a Scandinavian interior and Japanese minimalistic design.
04. What makes you and your work unique/distinctive?
What makes my work so unique is my passion and my willingness to learn and improve.
05. What inspires you?
My inspirations are my mother and the person that I was born to be. I get most of my motivation from
the latter, and it is because of her (aka future me) that I don’t waste any second of my day NOT trying
to become her. I am well aware that who I am becoming is because of the efforts that I put in today.
06. Which fashion designer is your source of inspiration?
My source of inspiration and favourite fashion designer is Emelie von Hofsteen, she designs luxurious
clothing with a specialization in luxurious jumpsuits. Very feminine, seductive and with a lot of elegance.
07. What brands inspire you?
I like to work with both low segmented as well as high segmented brands.
They all must have one thing in common though: quality.
08. Where can we see your portfolio?
My work can be found on my Facebook account. But I’m going to switch my modelling work
to my Instagram account because it is there where you can find my personality. And the goal is
to combine my work with my personality to make it unique.
09. Is there a designer you would like to do a photoshoot with?
In terms of designer I’d like to work with Simon Jacquemus.
10. Describe your daily life in 5 sentences:
I’m a passionate writer whose work is based on self-development and spirituality. I enjoy South African
culinary and music, getting lost in strange countries and learning how to invest. The phrase “Know
Thyself’’ is one of the few phrases that I live by because I believe that nothing becomes impossible for
those who know themselves. I strive to be a better version of myself every day, so my standards and
expectations of myself are quite high, but surely not unrealistic. I want to be known as the girl who
sets goals and achieves them, I don’t do carpe diems. My advice to the writer is:
“There is nothing that you can’t do.’’
American Vintage
Summer Camp
American Vintage introduceert een casual
en unieke Spring / Summer 2018 collectie
met een vernieuwende kijk op Summer
Camp.
vertegenwoordigden.
